FSUIPC 4.217 and wind smoothing on the 744X

Featured Replies

Have any of you tried Pete's FSUIPC 4.217 with "wind smoothing" enabled within FSX SP2? He has done a marvelous job in this build & wind behavior is finally shaping up quite nicely. Of interest however, is the lateral behavior of the 744X AFCS . Please reference this post in Pete's forum http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?...=423361#p423361Please feel free to contribute so we can finally overcome the winds aloft issue in FSX.

I can confirm that I had the same problem with lateral navigation with the 747x with wind FSUIPC wind smoothing on. Only at low altitudes, though. Once above about 12000' (probably a wind layer), it all "smoothed" out. Again, on descent, things went haywire when I got below 12k--about the time I was on vectors. Below that altitude, I could not acquire HDG, but LNAV was hit or miss. I turned off smoothing on descent, and it was ok. I noticed that the wind arrow in the ND was "twitching" all over the place.
