Insufficient Fuel

Recommended Posts

This is the FMC warning I'm getting. I have 382,000 lbs of fuel on board and am flying from Vancouver to Tokyo, about 4,100 nm. Why am I getting this warning when max distance for the 747 is around 7,000 miles?TIASteve Ark

Is your route entered into the FMC correctly? If you accidentally entered a leg on the wrong side of the earth, that could easily do it. Step through the route to make sure it looks OK. Also, did you maybe set a very high fuel reserve?-stefan

Yep, sorry, you were right. Digging further into my plyplan. I found to waypoints that were almost tripling my flight distance. Thanks again, I should have caught that.Cheers!

Steve,This also often happens when you have a "discontinuity" in the flight route either seen on the RTE pages or the LEGS pages.Again, scrolling through the route in PLN mode will normally catch it and allow you to "hook" the route back together. It is a bit harder if you have selected a waypoint that exists for the route but is actually not the waypoint you intended to insert! In this case, it is the mileage and/or the heading to the next waypoint that may help you catch it!Cheers,Lee
