PMDG MD-11 for FSX is now in BETA...

I can answer that me thinks, unless I am wrong on the MD-11.Mostly PMDG products ship with navdata for their FMC already packaged in, and for the best updates one can go via Navigraph to get the latest updates.http://www.navigraph.com/www/default.aspHowever I am just as curious as to if the MD-11 will be using the same database at the 744X. If so, then we're all set!!! If not, I guarentee it won't take Navigraph long to get a solution :-)Hope I was at least close on this one (it was a peer-to-peer answer only).

Actualy thats why I asked I have a membership with Navigraph already and I figured the Navigraph would be the only place we could if we had to download it although I believe not completly sure, but they all use the same type.ThanksEric W. As of right now, I believe it is the same. I will defer to a member of the development team to confirm. I have a Navigraph subscription and I believe other members of the team also have subscriptions. So it will be tested as part of the Beta process.

Guys,The MD-11 will come with an up to date (at time of release) Navigraph cycle, but you will have to purchase further updates from them.

Am I right in assuming then that it's quite possible that we'll have to wait until the end of the year before the FS9 version will be relased?Sorry, but for me this is rather disappointing. During all those years and months of waiting and waiting I've always expected that the two versions will at least be out together. And to be honest I really do hope that the FSX version will not sell all too well. Should it sell like hot cakes I wonder whether we are going to get a FS9 version at all. Sorry but that's just my gut feeling reading through all the announcements. Roland

Hey Roland I understand your frustration but then FS9 is 5 years old +, I myself would prefer to see development resources NOT going towards any more FS9 add-ons. The brutal truth is that pc gaming and simming are always moving forward, and quickly. To be a simmer/gamer, you got to keep your hardware current. FSX has been out almost 2 years now.

I couldn't agree more with your statement.It's only that I am really getting tired of upgrading and upgrading in the knowledge that even the most up-to-date and expensive hardware does not allow me to run new and resource hungry FS apps and add-ons the way I'd really like it, smooth and with no stutters.My current new PC is quite up to the task, but only for FS9 that is, which I run with all the necessary goodies like UT at 100%, Radar Contact, Active Sky, etc, etc. and I can fly the Queen with consistent 30 fps.

I concur on the good FPS with FS9 and the 744, on my new hand built system FSX goes from 40+ FPS on the tarmac to 10-15 FPS with the PMDG 744. UT and RC and ASX. In fact FPS with the Queen is so low I have stopped flying it and am waiting for the MD11 in the hopes that the FPS will be better.

Fingers crossed that you'll get better FPS with the MD11, but I would not not bet on it.Over all the years flight simming (...and believe there were many), I have realized that whatever you do on the hardware side, you'll never catch up with the software developers. It's some kind of a rat race and you are always bound to loose. So I have decided to call it a day and even though I have got me a copy of FSX the day it came out, it went on the PC for a short test flight and it then went off again on the very same day.Should there really be a PMDG FS9 MD11 before FS XI (or whatever it's called), fair enough, I'll buy it. But by then it could well be that the FSX successor is on the horizon, so I actually don't expect this to happen, now that it might take another couple of months before the FS9 MD11 will be released.

The latest and greatest hardware can actually handle FSX maxed out quite well. Unfortunately you pay dearly for it. BUT you can save by knowing a bit about computers.The rig I just built for FSX handles it wonderfully. I put in . . . 1600 bucks total in parts and built it myself. i priced the exact same specs at Alienware and -- well -- all you pay for there is the logo -- they want $6,875.42 USD for a rig that matches my specs precisely (but with 2 less video cards).For hardcore flight simmers -- Newegg and Tiger Direct are beyond friends -- they are family!

Oh I understand pcs just fine, been building them for years. Mine runs FSX very well... without the PMDG 744 mod.
