Engine Start Query - 747 400

Recommended Posts

Guest nigvilla

Despite following all the procedures and checklists (correctly?) in the fantastic documentation that complements the 747 for FSX I never seem to get the manual recommended duct pressure during engine start of greater than 30.Despite this , all four engines start with no problem or warnings so I was wondering if the manual was correct or not in the duct pressure value given. This does not seem to change no matter which combination of packs I have on or off combined with the APU running.Nigel Thomas

I find I can leave all 3 packs on and still get an engine start. I am not sure that is correct. On the LDS 763, for example, you have to kill the packs to get the PSI to turn the N2. Different jets I know, but it makes we wonder.

The APU in a 747 is that good it will start 2 engines at once - so they say. With packs on - ask Capt R.
