This is my first post so I hope I'm reaching the correct/proper audience/forum. I'm curious if others have had this experience or is it particular to my installation/computer. On any given flight with either of these aircraft, if I should open or switch to another window (i.e. pressing F9 to view FS Navigator) causes a couple of things to happen. Not all at the same time, but at least one will occur. There is an audible disengage alarm, FMC displays a message regarding Max Alt FLXXX, engine 3 may shut down, or VNAV seems to disengage the autothrottle and causes an overspeed situation if I'm not paying attention. At reaching cruise altitude, airspeed creeps to near overspeed. Clicking VNAV stabilizes N1 and airspeed drops off to cruise speed.

Please sign with your name in this forum.Yup, you've got the right place... as for this problem, it will also occur if you open the FS map. When the 747 sim gets the focus back, push the VNAV button to turn that back on and the throttles ought to respond. Also, clear the FMS alarm. The trick is pressing the VNAV button. For some reason, FS9/FSX do something to the simulator state when it changes focus. The workaround usually resolves the issue for me.

"... as for this problem, it will also occur if you open the FS map."---------------Dunno Dan- Nothing untoward happens when I bring up MAP VIEW or TOP DOWN View. Everything remains normal.Alex ReidPS- I'm still running FS9 1.0. Wonder if NOT updating is why FS runs so smoothly & reliably for me?

The OP was changing to another app (he mentioned FS Nav), not a different view within the sim. Hence the "re-focus."
