747 shutdown and startup checklists

Recommended Posts

If I'm leaving my plane at a gate at the end of a flight and another crew is waiting to take it on to somewhere else, I would work through the checklists up to the end of the "Parking and Shutdown" list but not perform the "Leaving Aircraft" checklist, correct ?Which leads logically to ... If I am that next crew and I get into a plane that isn't cold and dark, where do I pick up the checklists from ? Treat it as a powered aircraft and start with the Electrical Panel on page 5-4 ?ThanksGary

Start below the Aircraft Powered line (the dashed line), which is the Electrical Panel on 5-4. You are correct.

Gary,I believe that an exterior walkround is required before each flight. So a Cockpit Safety Inspection must be done beforehand to ensure that no control surfaces can move and injure cockpit crew whilst walking around. So, whatever the status of the aircraft on joining, the crew has to start the checklist from its beginning.Cheers, Richard
