PMDG 747 Abnormal Procedures

Recommended Posts

9/25/08In the manual for the PMDG 747 and in the section for "Abnormal Procedures" Chapter 6, I have a question. At the bottom of many of the EICAS MESSAGE's (in the shaded boxes) and after the "Condition" and "CREW ACTION" sections is this message:"DO NOT ACCOMPLISH THE FOLLOWING CHECKLISTS:" and then it lists one or two items that may have been listed in the "CREW ACTION."What does this mean and why?

Sorry, This is an old one, but i felt it deserved an answer. I dont have the check lists in front of me at the minute to be able to give you an example, but it basically means that having followed the Abnormal Procedures ... erm...procedure, for, say, shutting down an engine or similar. There is no need to then go through the checklist that would be required under normal operating conditions. The reason for this is that; A. You may exacerbate the problem.B. The majority of the checklist has already been covered by the Abnormals procedure anyway, rendering the normal procedure irrelevent. Basically it is a 'leave it to engineering' scenario.CheersPaul
