747 Updates -- Downsides

Recommended Posts

I seemed to have noticed somewere on the forum that someone reported having their STARS or SIDS or Airport data deleted when they updated the 747 (FS9) to V1.2? Is this correct, and what is the best way to resolve if so? I haven't updated yet, and am worried about any downsides to doing so. Are there any downsides to updating?ThanksBob LeBoeuf

Bob:The update provides a significant increase in performance/efficiency as well as adding greatly to fidelity. Download and install it- no downsides! As far as your NavData- I wholeheartedly recommend Navigraph, then Dan Down's SIDSTARS and if you fly to the UK, Steve Bell's SIDSTARS- installed in that order. Navigraph is a commercial product, released each AIRAC cycle. Dan Down's procedures are available in the file library here at AvSim, and Steve Bell's procedures are available exclusively at BA Virtual's Speedbird Online web-site.Having the update, and current AIRAC NavData will allow for the ultimate B744 experience currently available on anything purchased for less than 9 zeros :)Best-Carl F. When installing, use Custom and unselect navdata. The navdata that is shipped with the installer will always be at least one cycle out of date and if you already have current data then this is the work around.
