Opening doors during cruise

Recommended Posts

I was surprised today to find that I can open door R1 at FL350 and just get the EICAS message DOOR ENTRY R 1. No other things happen such as cabin depressurisation!Perhaps I should ask a flight attendant to sit on the sill and dangle her feet outside?Cheers, Richard

Richard:Was this in the 400X? I have never had this happen in hundreds of hours in the FS9 version- not sure about the 400X though. Could you have accidentally bumped a door open command key? Do you have one mapped?Best-Carl F. Carl, it's true. I tried this once too for grins. The door will open and the cabin remains pressurized. It doesn't happen accidently unless you hit the assigned key. I never thought to try it on the Long Beach Swan... give it a try.

Carl,This was with 400X under FSX, and I pressed my key combination purposely just to try the opening during a long flight. The outside view even showed the door opening and closing.Cheers, Richard

Gents,AFAIK cabin pressurisation is not modelled in either FS9 or FSX - thus no loss of cabin pressurisation effects or simulations. Similarly no aerodynamic effects on an open door in flight.BestSteve Bellpilotinfo.php?pid=0538&bg=b744

"----Perhaps I should ask a flight attendant to sit on the sill and dangle her feet outside?----"-------------Better still, ask the lead flight attendant to check the passenger list for a "D B Cooper"!Alex Reid
