October 21, 200817 yr You certainly are correct. They're not only the DC-10s they have though. They are also getting DC-10's from boneyards and upgrading them as well. They're being called MD-10's.
October 21, 200817 yr A question for the MD-11 insiders here in this topic : What about that third engine? Other than it being way up there and perhaps a maintanance nightmare when away from a maintanance hub : Why was chosen for that third engine? And did the fact that bigger and higher bypass and higher thrust engines and ETOPS ruin it for the MD11? During the years, engines got more and more powerful, 4-engined (pax) aircraft are dissapearing (except for the A380 and the newer 345's and 346's).I can imagine that that third engine became more and more absolete. Except for the new Falcon, no aircraft manufacturer sees the benifits anymore of a third engine. Thanks
October 28, 200817 yr here is one for the concorde people, how many airlines had their colors on the bird and who besides BA and AF pilots got to train and fly the bird? What were their limitations in doing so if there were any?
