Yes really smooth but pretty CPU hungryI'm at 15fps instead of 26 fps (locked at 26fps) on a heavy scene with VC...20 fps in 2D mode ...and I have a pretty heavy machine Core 2 Duo E8500 OC @ 4.13GhzGeforce 9800 GX2 OC4GB RAM PC8500 !Hope it will have some tweaks available because I found this one pretty heavy hehe :)or maybe I'll have to wait for nehalem ...

Or maybe just tune-down some performance-hungry sliders in FSX just a bit ;).Seriously, it's a smooth beastie. I can fly her no problems on my ancient AXP2600+ machine at low to mid-low settings in FSX (locked @ 30FPS).Cheers and have fun!Tero

(it's in Performance Tuning in the PMDG menu) Both those things can really help with the VC frames.

I have a similar machine. If you're at an urban area, I recommend you turn autogen to SPARSE, and AI airliner traffic to 25, and frame rate set to UNLIMITED.My first impression is that the MD-11 is amazing on frame rates considering the complexity. I hope this continues as I do my flight. If I can figure out how to program this FMC. I just now figured out how to enter data...you have to type it in, *THEN* you have to press the appropriate LSK. I guess that was more basic than the manual expected, or I am that dense. :)RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

Hey Rhett! Do you have the LDS767? How do the VC FPS compare to that? About the same, better, worse?

No Matthew I don't have the LD767. But I can tell you this, I just did some FPS testing in the busy Los Angeles area. I was getting a long term (10 minute) average of 32 fps on the ground at KLGB using my settings I posted earlier in this thread.Too early to form any conclusions but I'd say it's lookin good. Where I am, its very late and I really should be sleeping...RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

Gents-A funny side note on performance with the PMDG MD-11:Working in development, there is a natural tendency to grab the fastest hottest hardware you can find.A few weeks ago, we were chasing a problem that we thought was unique to a specific video card, but neither Michael or Vangelis had the card in their setups... so I suggested one of them run out and grab one at the local shop.Turns out, Michael's machine wouldn't take the card because he is two generations old in his hardware. When I asked Michael if his machine was REALLY that old he replied (with words to the effect of): "It is. Thats how the MD-11 got so optimized. When you are on hardware this old you discover what kills performance pretty quickly."That moment really made me smile. How's that for dedication to the cause of good FPS? :-)
