MD-11 MCDU: Approach and Go-Around Page

Hi all,First of all I'd like to say congratulations to the PMDG team. ;) I've already spent about 60hrs "in" the MD-11. FANTASTIC JOB!And the main reason why I'm here:After a lot of searching in the printed manuals, I still have a problem:After Go-Around ALL(!) the values disappears from the MCDU's "Approach and Go-Around Page" and regard to the manuals (FMS.40.57) the pilot is not able to change any of these values (except 5L VAPP and 4R TIMER MMSS)However in case of this "error" the MCDU doesn't calculate any landing speed (etc...) after G/A so I can't use the FMS SPEED mode anymore.Any idea? :-hmmmRegards,Laszlo

Laszlo,Does not look logic, however it is!After your GA procedure is finished, the flightplan is empty.The FMS is not knowing your intentions anymore, so cannot give any predictions.Howto tell her what you want to do next:Construct a Flightplan;Flightplan page, LSK1L,enter next waypoint (any place on earth), *Insert.From this waypoint, LSK2L now, select your intended routing. (STAR, Alternate airport or what you want).Apart from the routing, this should provide you the "missing" details again.Enjoy this wonderfull (simulated) aicraft.Regards,Harry

Hi,You need to LSK PPOS in the F-PLN page, then as NEXT WPT tell it your destination airport (if you want to try for there again), then fill in the STAR as normal, or you can select your alternate and fly on.Best regards,Robin.

Laszlo,If you do a properly initiated go-around (hit the GA switch with slats/flaps extended below 2,500 ft AGL) and your flight plan includes a missed approach procedure (that came as part of the approach procedure entered from the STAR page) the predictions will not be lost.The FMS will compute the missed approach route, using a 10,000ft above airport elevation CRZ LVL, and will provide predictions up to the last waypoint of the miseed approach path. So the FMS SPD mode and the PROF mode will be available once you press these buttons (at the time you command the GA, PROF mode will disengage and the GA mode will be activated, but above 400 AGL you can engage PROF/FMS SPD again).Of course, you will have no approach speeds and landing weight predictions becasue the FMS does not know where you intend to land and what route will take you there. At some point after the GA, you should do a LAT REV to an appropriate missed approach waypoint and add a STAR/APPR to the original destination. Or, if you changed your mind and want to land elsewhere, from the LAT REV page you can use the ENABLE ALTN prompt (if you had defined an alternate airport) to go for the alternate airport or the NEW DEST prompt to go to any other airport of your choice. Be aware, that after the GA is initiated the CRZ LVL will be automatically set at 10,000 ft above airport elevation. If this is too high for your intended routing you should set the FCP altitude to the desired CRZ altitude, then go to the F-PLN INIT page and set this at the CRZ LVL field.
