[MD-11] - Two Issues/Questions

Recommended Posts

I have run across two issues in the handful of flights that I've managed. I'm going to try and post links to the pics, but please let me know if there is difficulty in accessing them.1. Engines 1 & 3 started, APU off, air system in manual mode, and pneumatic crossfeed valves are closed. I can still start engine #2 even though I don't believe there is any pneumatic air source to spin the engine...http://picasaweb.google.com/jeffrey.hepbur...3390268815776022. When I insert a star beginning at the last waypoint without selecting an approach, a very srange route is drawn and the vertical points looks strange (picture 1)http://picasaweb.google.com/jeffrey.hepbur...339004030799682When I add the appropriate vertical constraint to the first waypoint in the approach, the route is re-drawn correctly (Picture 2). Am I doing something wrong here?http://picasaweb.google.com/jeffrey.hepbur...339015357081266Thanks!!Jeff H.KDEN

The external air is still connectedwhich is why you are managing a #2 start.Turn it off through the fmc and you willnotice the change in the air schematic.CheersJon

Out of curiousity, how can you tell that I'm connected to an external air source by looking that schematic? Shouldn't I have some indication?EDIT: Ahh, I think I see. If I wasn't on external air, then the #2 pack wouldn't be green on the schematic. Let me play around with it some more...it's been a while since I did this originally.Jeff H.KDEN
