The real life issue...

Recommended Posts

Hi Captains,I wonder how do the real life pilots deal with FMC initialization when they fly a "there & back" short flight or a flight with short stop for fueling or passengers taking (for example Teneriffe->Warsaw via Gran Canaria). Do they have to power off the a/c and to perform all procedures in order to reset and reinitialize FMC on each departure?RegardsCzarek

FMS will clear the F-PLN on landing, and ready to go for the next segment... the MD11 does this easily.

One option is to have the next leg flight plan already entered as a secondary flight plan. When, after landing, the FMS is initialized (happens automatically when you press the INIT key, or after you turn off the engines) the SEC FPLN is retained if it was not created as a copy of the ACT FPLN.So you just copy the SEC to the ACT and your flight plan is set for the next leg.
