FSX 747-400X Battery test question

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, First off, this is not a complaint at all. I used to think the PSS-747 was a good add-on until I got back into simming and found the realism of the PMDG line.Scenario: Parked at gate, cold start, EXT PWR is Available. Battery power is on and accurately shown via the 4 main screens are showing having power (PFD, ND, Upper Eicas, FMC).Question is: After Ext Pwr is turned on, (and I am performing the battery test) I turn the Power selector to "Bat" from Auto. Shouldn't once again the only screens to have power be the 4 screens as when only Bat power was on? After all the selector is on Bat so the Ext Pwr should be blocked right? The only difference I see is the expected two warnings in the upper EICAS.>BAT DISCH APU>BAT DISCH MAINI love learning about the real 747 and come to find that the PMDG is modeled that way as well. For instance, knowing that when Ground air is available it is provided to the center duct directly through 2 connectors in the fuselage and that being seen in the PMDG model as well in both the EICAS as well as when you close the ISLN valves and see you cannot get Ground air by turning on the left or right Packs :)Lesser attention to detail programmers would have it simply give air when a knob was turned to auto or on. Realism is so sweet! Thanks for the help,~Dan

Hello Dan,Your question is very good, trying to answer it is a good learning exercise, thanks.I set up the scenario you described and I saw that the batteries discharge when you set the standby power selector to BAT. I also saw that the F/O screens remained on.My suggestion is this:When you turn EXT PWR 1 on then AC buses 1 to 4 are powered and all the screens are on, no surprises there. Because the STBY PWR selector switch is set to AUTO the Captain
