Derated TO Formula/Referece

Hi again,I've searched through many threads talking about Derated Takeoff Power... and while the discussions are terribly interesting, I havn't seen any sort of formula or reference sheet that gives details on how to select an appropriate D-TO power. If I missed something in the threads, apologies... but, if anyone could point me in the right direction for this, that would be awesome and a half. Thanks much!

Pilots consult huge volumes of tables specific to every runway their company uses to determine the assumed temperature to use for a derated takeoff. These take into effect OAT, elevation, GTOW, pressure and runway length. The only flight simulation utility that I've seen that provides anything near to that is PSFPLAN for PS1.The best solution is to experiment with different temperatures until you get a feel for the effect, or indeed use the fixed derates. On an average day (and I'm probably sticking my neck out here!) you could try something like 45-50C.Anyway, give it a whirl.Sunray

Hi,Airlines have engineering departments that figure all the performance capabilities/limitations to all available runways in all the airports that they operate the aircraft out of. There is no simple formula. Some carriers are making this data available to pilots on laptops (Southwest, Jet Blue). Others, give the pilots a print out with all the parameters for the departure for that given day given many factors such as aircraft weight, weather conditions, MEL or defered items, etc... While it is possible that a pilot could give you a copy of this type of printout for a particular day, for a specific type of conditions, this is not the type of data that an airline would publish anywhere to the public or for print. The airlines operating philosophy is also reflected in the perforamance data. For example, an airline may elect to limit aircraft maximum gross weight for their specific operations. The type of chart that I have seen looks like this:Aircraft Gross Weight Assumed Temperature300 30280 35260 40...I am making these numbers up but you get the idea. This is of course done for a particular runway, airport, temperature, departure procedure, wind conditions, etc...Pedro
