favorite add-ons??? a little help please...

Good afternoon fellow pilots...As I sit here over the keyboard and think about sitting down to fly, I realize how burnt out I am on FlightSim. I am tired of the same thing every day. I need a little help.What are your favorite add-ons. I ask because I would like to enhance my activities a bit, but know of very few sites for airplanes and such. I use the PSS747, PSS777, and 767PIC, but I feel that I am not really looking for aircraft so much as eye candy. Or something to brighten my experience on FS.I use VATSIM regularly.Basically, what I am looking for is a listing of things you all like, with locations that I can get this stuff at.I cruise thru the forums and see all this great stuff, yet never see where people get these items.I hope you see where I am going, and what I need.I look forward to your responses,J. Jason, forget add-ons for a while (jeezzz, did I just say that???). Go BUSH! Check out the Bush Flying Unlimited forums here and Don's site at www.avsim.com/alaska for a change of pace. There is nothing better than swinging a heavy into places it shouldn't be (like the AVSIM base!). Have a look; I think you might enjoy the change of pace. I did until they started insulting my C17 "bush whacker". :-lol

J,I too burned out about 3 months ago. I used to fly the heavies, using both 2K2 & FLY!. I am currently only using props, and concentrating on low altitude VFR/IFR.While you said you want recommendations on other things than aircraft, it seems you might get a boost by changing your choice of travel for a while. :-) With the smaller aircraft comes a greater dependency on visual cues, for a better feeling of "immersion" in the sim.So in short, get some props, get some scenery/mesh, and maybe concentrate on some real world weather. I have to echo Tom A's suggestion. Try some bush flying. The BFU and/or Alaska by Don sites are wonderful resources. There are some great add-on sceneries and superlative aircraft to help enhance your flying pleasure. Go to the BFU jobs board and grab an assignment -- fly it, take some screen shots, use your imagination and post a PIREP (pilot report) when completed. And for a REAL challenge (if you don't already know how)...... learn to fly the new AS365 Dauphin helicopter that was just released. A spectacular beast to be sure. THAT should keep you from getting bored for a while. :-hah I enjoy the chopper flying so much (even though I'm still learning how to do it), I've got two choppers with personalized liveries (two version of the Hughes 500D, one w/skids, one w/floats; and the Dauphin).Just about anything you will need, you can find right here in the Avsim Library.-Lindy :-rotor in training

Rest assured, I am reading these.I thank you all for your ideas. I routinely fly the "little" planes to keep my skills up. I love FS for that. I fly multilple approaches into many airports in an effort to be ready for the real approach. It is amazing that I can shoot an approach here on FS, then be fly the real trip and it is as if I have shot the approach many more times than I have. Well it's been a while since I posted... mainly because I've spent the last 6 months doing real-world flight training, and now have my private pilot's certificate!I followed the advice of one of the other posters and am now in the midst of an evening filled with downloading and installing some of the great helicopters that have been uploaded recently. While doing this, I also remembered back to something I've done in the past to spice things up a bit in FS... combine activities into one session. For instance, plan out a flight that requires the use of a heavy. Once you get to your destination, switch to a smaller plane or copter and do some local sightseeing. Once you get back to where you parked your big rig, fire her up and go someplace else. If you run out of time in one session, just save and come back.I may try to figure out how to properly work the Airbus 320 Pro. The panel looks very realistic, and I want to be able to take off without digging a hole at the end of the runway with the tail! Maybe I'll cruise up to Alaska from Seattle, then pop up the Bell 222 or UH-1H Huey and check out the mountains.--Guy Elden Jr.PP-ASEL
