TAT Temp changes causing Weird Autothrottle Behaviour

Recommended Posts

Guest Mark McG

Hi,I am currently flying online from KORD to KMCO, and am having trouble with the autothrottle, it is constantly spooling down then up again. update: Have noticed that the autothrottle problems are occurring when the TAT as recorded on the upper EICAS changes rapidly. When TAT is constant Autothrottle behaves normally I have FSUIPC v 2.87, FSMETEO (VATSIM weather) and I have disabled my joystick throttle assignment.Any help greatly appreciated.Mark

Personally if you haven't tried Fsmeteo yet... its time you install the demo. Cheap program and prob the best weather addon for flightsim... without question.Best,Haroon - PIC767 beta team

Haroon,I was running FS METEO at the time, with FSUIPC v2.87.TAT was -19C. When FSMETEO Auto updated the TAT would either rise momentarily to about -16C or fall to about -35C. I was flying at FL370, and had the prefferences set to use VATSIM weather. When the sim loaded the updated weather is when the autothrottle started going slightly berserk. Also noticed that there would be a slight shift in winds at this stage, followed by the winds and temperature returning to a state similar to what they had been before the FSMETEO update. When the autothrottle settled down, the Mach hold was nailed spot on -it was just for those few minutes after the weather updates that I was experiencing problems.Mark

Tried a flight today from EGLL to EGPF.Unchecked the VATSIM weather box in FSMETEO & checked the use FSMETEO weather box. All of my autothrottle problems suddenly dissappeared. The previous instances of autothrottle problems were while flying online and having FSMETEO download the VATSIM weather. This must be a problem relating to the way the VATSIM weather models the Winds and Temps aloft, because using the FSMETEO weather the autothrottle is bang on da money.I have only recently started flying online, and because of this started to use FSMETEO to download the VATSIM weather. However from now on I am not even going to bother getting the VATSIM weather, and just stick to the tries & trusted FSMETEO.Mark

Hi Mark,..and your flight tutorial from EGLL-KLAX is even better when running Meteo ;-) It's more fun of course on the Eastbound leg KLAX-EGLL with those tailwinds.Any chance we will see some more documents like that one?Rob.
