Hey Rob and Ian,Lee Hetherington had a real world flight lesson scheduled for Sunday afternoon but it got canceled and he will be trying to join us.

Good news.Have not seen Lee for a while.Mike, Philip, Ian, et al....expect an e-mail from Dan Pergau ASAP r.e. some suggestions/options for the group flight IF Cranbrook becomes too congested/backlogged with departing 767's ;-)Rob.

Ok, Mike, Ian, and other PICrs,Jim Bartosh here. This trip is cool enuf to pull me off the scopes for one of my rare appearances as a pilot. One question - i read thru the material. With the MOPAR transponder client - where does one obtain the IP address to be used ?Jim B.

IP for MOPAR is given out by the PAR-ATC upon entering his area, usually in the ATIS or he will tell you the IP.

Hi,hoping to join the you on Sunday. I`ve loaded down the files, scenery and stuff but some of the charts were very unclear. Anybody know of a site where there are some of a better quality? .This will be my first flight in Canada so looking forward to the event for better or for worse.A praise to the Canadians who seem technicaly right on top. A special mention to Ian_Riddel, Lee, Mike, and all the others who provide some much knowledge to this forum. Thanks and god luck on Sunday.robin.:-)

Robin,My apologies if some of the charts are a little unclear. Some of those are my fault and for the life of me I am unable to get my scanner functioning since I upgraded to Windows XP.You can try to get these charts at the Vancouver and Edmonton Web Sites as well as the VATCAN Website.VATCAN --> http://bathursted.ccnb.nb.ca/vatcan/Edmonton FIR --> http://www.charityflight.com/edmonton/CZEGFIR.htmVancouver FIR --> http://bathursted.ccnb.nb.ca/vatcan/fir/vancouver/index.htmSee you there.Ian Elchitz CYWG

Based on some concerns I share with Dan and Rob. We need to prepare for alternative origination points for the flight Sunday. Departure delays can be estimated at Cranbrook by multiplying the number of aircraft sitting on the ground by at least 5 minutes each. If the delay at Cranbrook appears to be unacceptable, please take the initiative to relocate your aircraft to the ramp at either CYVR(35 extra minutes in route to CYYC), CYLW(18 extra minutes in route to CYYC), or CYQL(3 minutes shorter time in route to CYYC.) Each of these locations offer great alternatives and can be departed with little or no delay. Ian will post flight plans from each of these facilities on the PIC Flight web page.Another option is to start your preflight a little early at Cranbrook to get out ahead of the 1900Z start time. I have asked Rob to take the lead out from Cranbrook and depart about 15 minutes before the event start time. I will try and be right behind him. I hope those finding themselves number 9, 10, 11, etc. for departure out of Cranbrook take me up on the alternate departure locations as I would hate to have anyone disapointed with an extreamly long wait. From a total flight perspective however, it may turn out to be good that we have plenty of spacing to facilitate the PAR approach at Cold Lake. All in all, we should have a great time so don't let me scare you but it is best that you are prepared with a contengency plan.

Excellent post. Proactively resolving potential backlogs...are you the man or what?!!Great work, Mike.I'll be the lead sled-dog with pleasure and honour.Rob.

Great organization guys. I am preparing already for this flight, and hoping to do a PAR approach.See you all on Sunday.

Hi Mike,Just one question so far ;-), regarding the great package Ian put together. In the Canadian NDBs zip installation notes it says to copy 'Canendb.bgl' to the 'cane' directory; only problem is there is no Canendb.bgl file in the zip.Anyone any thoughts?

I noticed the same thing and should have made a reference to it. Just disregard that step and perhaps later on we can run down the bgl file. It is not required for this weekend. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'm not sure if this is my problem or a problem with the scenery, but, this evening I made the flight to Cold Lake and made a pretty good landing. However, while taxing on the taxiways the plane was bouncing all over the place and eventually the gear collapsed. Seems as though MSFS considers the taxiways as dirt instead of paved. Might this be a problem with FS2000 scenery in FS2002?I've now flown all the legs for Sundays flight and am really looking forward to it. This was my first time flying on the west coast. Beautiful scenery!

Hi,I need to get this right. I live in a timezone 1hr East of GMT. This timezone covers the whole country. I see that Canada has 5 time zones. Which time zone covers this event? KL 1900Z = ?.Secondly, which transition altitude is used? Local to the airport or US standard 18000 ft.?Thanks, robin.:-beerchug

Zulu is Zulu no matter where you are. One hour east of GMT would make it 8 pm local time and 1900Z for you. I live in the Central Time zone which is 5 hrs west of GMT(during DST). My local time would be 2 PM, but it will still be 1900Z for me too.Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Bryan
