'Red Arrows' Hawks - Panel ADF - Update

Recommended Posts

Ladies and Gentlemen,I started another post tonight on the subject of ADFs. I found out, to my shock and horror (I almost spilt my beer) that FS2000 default gauges don't allow for half frequencies when twiddling your ADF i.e. Lear, Concorde gauges. This was a surprise to me - it may not be to most of you - but the bottom line is that 5,000 downloads (across five sites) of the Mikko/Kari/Mark Red Arrows pack now have panels that don't do quite everything they should do in FS2002, as I hadn't checked that. Now, nobody has complained yet ... not one ... so it's possible that nobody navigates anyway or just bungs up the GPS mid-screen if they have to; and so I don't think, yet, that it's worth uploading a fix. I'll wait until a few other things crop up and bundle them together. In the meantime, I love you all, so for the benefit of keen microaviators in this forum alone, here's a quick fix to sharpen up any or all of your Hawk panels in the REDPACK series.Just open your PANEL.CFG and scroll down to the main panel gauges. Overwrite gauge29 with the following:+++++++++START COPY++++++++++++++++gauge29=737-400!ADF, 56,678,190,70//gauge29=CONCORDE!Radio-Adf, 56,678,190,70++++++++++END COPY+++++++++++++++++This will give you the default FS2002 737 ADF. The bitmap colour blends in OK without change, although the readout is in green whereas the rest of the stack is in red; but it's rather pretty, actually. Your choice, anyway. You can always revert to the old setting (note that I back it up within the file). I've done it to all mine, and now at least I can find Cornwall for the Dartmouth display ....So there ya go! Support before you asked for it! Never say I don't love you, friends of Avsim ...Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Did you spot the deliberate mistake? I'll just bump this the once, if only to point out that Dartmouth is in Devon, not Cornwall. But, of course, with your mofified ADF, you knew that ...It all looks the same when you're upside down, anyway ...http://www.swiremariners.com/reds2.jpgMark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Sorry MarkI can't find any mistakes because I'm having too much fun "leading" the pack. After all, it's my responsibility to make sure we don't take out the control tower during the show.Any chances of you taking half an hour off to do the "tbirds" next? LOLGreat work! No LOL

Thanks, Fastdraw. We thought we'd do the 'Thunderbirds' on Monday, 'Snowbirds' on Tuesday, 'Roulettes' on Wednesday and, of course, the 'Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale' on Thursday and ... well, we'd finish up the other 58 national display teams over next weekend, LOL.I have, actually done a set of views for the 'Thunderbirds' some time back, but never uploaded them. More work to do on that. But don't miss Kari Virtanen's 'Midnight Hawks' formation (Finland) and 'Patrouille De France' (France, duh ..). They're both at Avsim, although they were for FS2000 and will need running through the hangar. The 'Roulettes' in Aus do actual online formation stuff .. not sure how successfully, I've emailed Brad Disher to ask. Have a look at www.aussim.com. We have some rather exciting ideas for 'Red Arrows' interactive stuff in the future, so stay tuned.'Smoke on, GO!"Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Mark, I'm not greedy, the Tbirds will be just fine. Besides how can you spend all your time here when you have to spend half of it on the "Trainz" forum. Between these 2 great programs there is no time left, period. Is that gmax 4 truck shay ready yet? ROTFLOLCharles

Trainz? Not me. One computer hobby is enough. Even though I used to be a train nut, that sim doesn't have anywhere near the appeal of the flightsims to me ... but then, horses for courses.Mind you, its all gone full circle ... the latest Simubuild A340s have virtual cabins, as you know. Great job, Simubuild, but the LAST place I want to be in my flightsims is in the cabin. Done enough of that for real: I bought a flightsim to get in the cockpit, which I can't do for real!Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg
