December 28, 200223 yr Season greetings from Israel!Just finished the new public beta of Mr. Wagner Beskow's 767 Dispatcher. New version includes Map display, Flight plan page, Basic ETP calculation, FIX and NAV Aids database and many other features. It was a tough work, though quite enjoyable. However, I guess it is not perfect, so I would appreciate your comments before final release. My sincere thanks to all who helped, and special thanks goes to Wagner for his permission to get involved in his project.Oh, the link :-) :http://www.geocities.com/dispatcher3b6/index.htmedit: some bandwidth limits there so you may try:http://grm.m.walla.co.il/briefcase/0004/7/...patcher_3b8.zipor ask here and i'll mail it to you (it is 4.7MB, make sure your box is big enough). Happy New Year,Ilan Jonas
December 28, 200223 yr Looks great! One thing though...I am having a terrible time getting the flight plan function to work. In fact, I cannot get it to work at all. Once I find a fix when I try to copy it into the flight plan it copies the fix ID but NOT the lat or lon. Can you please check this again, and perhaps give some more detailed instructions if I am doing something wrong! I understand the part about putting the orange box on each lower line before inserting the fix. Thanks!Damon
December 28, 200223 yr I downloaded it without a problem but when I try to open the file with Excel 97, I get a visual basic error message which says: file format no longer supported which seems to imply that was created with a an older version.Any suggestions are welcomeThanksHarryWWA5513Sr.Capt/JFK
December 28, 200223 yr Hiregarding "EXCEL" I am using XP office and it works just fine, so it appears you may be right about your version.wings737
December 28, 200223 yr Ilan,I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you've put in on this project. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but from my brief tests the spreadsheet appears to have significant improvements over the earlier versions.I particularly like the automatic lookup of weather data that's transferred into the "Basic Data" calculations. Later I'll check to see if this information agrees with the outputs from ActiveSky wxRE and FS_Meteo. The data should agree since all three programs are pulling their data from the same NOAA servers but ActiveSky has a different routine that is heavily influenced by TAF while FS_Meteo reports are based only on METARS. Anyway, I'll check later to see if they all agree. Thanks again to you, Wagner and Rob for your contributions.
December 28, 200223 yr Hello all,I am using excel 2000, so I can't test it on 97. However I have it at my office so I can check it on monday.I did try to save the file in excel97 format: it is a lot bigger (around 33MB unzipped!) and thus more resource consuming. you may try to use it in the meantime. link is:http://grm.m.walla.co.il/briefcase/0004/7/...cher_3b8_97.zipDamon - Are you using excel 97 too? it might be the problem...you don't have to manually control the orange "cursor" - it will advance automaticaly. use it only if you erase a leg or skip a leg.just to understand exactly whats wrong: are you using the "copy to plan" button, and then it copies only the ID?You have to write the fix ID in the WHITE cell, not directly in the flight plan. When you do, do you see the other details (lat, long, name) in the cells next to the input cell?Waiting to hear more! Thanks all,Ilan
December 28, 200223 yr I too am having a similar problem. I can input all of the dep/arv data, wx, fuel, alternates, etc but the program still thinks it is flying in Europe when I call for the flight plan. I am trying to fly from KABQ to KORD with KTDW and KSTL as alternates. How do I clear out the data (European waypoints) and get the program to generate my above trip?Terry
December 28, 200223 yr Thanks for the kind words, this is the real paycheck for a freeware, and I appreciate that.Terry - I am not sure if you are asking about the flight plan preperation page or the flight plan final result (page 3/3 of the dispatch sheet). To clear the current flight plan in the preperation page you just have to push the clear plan button. However I guess you aimed for the dispatch stuff: there is a green button labeled "calc & fill nav log". this will update the flight plan you made to the dispatch sheet.BTW, are you using the regular version or the one I made for excel 97? I still don't know if it is good for 97 users so let me know please.Oh one more thing: You might need to remove sheet protection to fill the flight plan. I made an error there so it might interfere with calculations.waiting for more comments, bug reports and suggestions,Ilan
December 29, 200223 yr Ilan I neglected to thank you before for your efforts. Unfortunately th -97 version has not cured my problem. I have a hunch that the issue is visual basic not excel but I'm not sure how to identify whivh version of vb is runningHarryWWA5513
December 29, 200223 yr Hi Ilan:Yes, I am using Excel 97 SR-1. All the other functions in the spreadsheet seem to work OK though, as did the prior versions of this excellent work. I have all the options checked as instructed in the first page of the spreadsheet. When I input the fix in the white box, it does show all the other data in the boxes. But when I click the "copy to plan" box it only copies the fix ID. Also, the orange cursor does not move automatically.BTW, if I manually input the lat lon coordinates in the plan boxes it does seem to correctly calculate the flight plan info, but it definitely is not copying that info from the original input boxes.Let me know if you need me to check anything else.Damon
December 29, 200223 yr Ilan:I have not checked the Excel 97 version, but in the original version I downloaded it does not appear that the flight plan worksheet is protected, unless I am missing something. I am not an expert on Excel, but while I am on that page I clicked on "Protection" and there was only an option to "protect worksheet" not "unprotect" it.Damon
December 29, 200223 yr Ilan, I have also downloaded the excel 97 version and it made no differece to me either. Just get a message saying format not longer supported. Any help would be greatly appreciated as the new version sounds fantastic.CheersRottnest
December 29, 200223 yr Ilan,I have downloaded both version on my Windows XP system with Office XP. Both versions work just fine except for the following issues:The flight plan function will not work with either. I cannot get the waypoints to move. Can you read the flight plan from the PIC 767 nav database? This would allow an auto input. If not you may wish to input it from from the FS2002?myflights/ folder since I conver my PIC767 flight plans from there with the FSBuild program. One other point, the payload function only works with kg's, can you also have the lbs window active also. A macro that converts each way would be very helpful for anyone anywhere in the world.Great advance over the older version of the plannerBob Johnson
December 29, 200223 yr Ilan, Thanks for the response and the helpful advise. I will go try those right now. As for the Excel question, I am not really sure what version it is as it came bundled on my Office 2002 CD.Terry
