March 4, 200323 yr hey Lee,Thanks alot for this exquisite gauge, one small question, are you going to incorporate aurial signals? or is this not available with this TCAS IRL?Very nicecheers
March 4, 200323 yr I believe the README says that hopefully a future version will have aural warnings and vertical speed commands along the VSI scale. Neither of those can be accomplished without very complex TCAS RA logic. Well, "traffic, traffic" is easy but not very interesting.I have a lot of the new TCAS RA logic done and I am trying to be as true to the TCAS II v7.0 spec as I can. I hope it will correctly issue positive RAs (climb/descend 1500/2500fpm), negative RAs (don't descend/climb 0/500/1000/2000fpm), and composite RAs (multiple threats, e.g., display don't climb 1000fpm and don't descend 500fpm).At this stage it is not known whether this new logic will be too computationally demanding and hurt the frame rates. Only time will tell, and I'm taking a break from TCAS for a while so I can finish my real-world PPL over the next month or so (weather permitting, please). I'm certainly not going to make any promises this future TCAS will come to fruition, or what the time frame will be if it does.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
March 4, 200323 yr Hi Lee, I have not yet had a chance to d/l this but it sounds great! One question by someone with a pretty weak system and maxed-out resources when using FSMeteo, VATSIM, etc...what kind of effect should I expect on frame rates with this new gauge?Damon
March 4, 200323 yr The gauge itself costs you nothing (frames) as far as I can tell...it's the traffic in the multiplayer session that will cost you when it comes into view.I run a 700mhz PC with VATSIM, Meteo, RW, etc, etc, etc...sometimes, you gotta turn off the multiplayer range in SBox or your frames will go to slide show at a busy airport / scenery area(more than 10 aircraft in view on the ground).Rob. System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
March 4, 200323 yr whoops, sorry for having read over that part of the READMEwell the future sounds promising, both virtually and realand about the weather... in the USA you shouldn't complain, we here in Europe are entitled to complain about the weather, it's not for no reason we come training in the USA... ;)of course, IMC is very interesting here in Europe... cheers
March 5, 200323 yr Very Nice Gauge!767PIC+POSKY767+Phil's VFR view+Lee's gauge keep this panel the best one for flying. Only if we had a VC...Thanks allPat
March 5, 200323 yr No, I'm not in hiding... just a real busy time!I was just thinking, wouldn't it just take a model of a 767 V/C to make a virtual cockpit for 767 PIC? I mean, would one simply be able to reference the already existing gauges??? Just a thought... I hope all current gauges are supported in FS2004...Lee, I look forward to trying your TCAS add-on as soon as my computer recovers!Regards,Phil Geddes
March 5, 200323 yr When I switch the overhead panel ON *at night*, the VSI frame turns into light brown, that is the day colour. Is there a way to avoid that? Also, if I put the gauge into cvrm's landing view panel, it remains completely light-brown at night, does not change colour at all.Thank you,James
March 5, 200323 yr Lee and PhilThank you both for a splendid job, you have really succeded to take this great aircraft to new dimensions.Just have one qestion about the TCAS. It has a fixed radius of 6nm and I can't change it, click spots are there and FSUIPC is set for TCAS range 40nm..... Nothing of big importance though. Thanks again guys, really great work.regardsFredrik

March 5, 200323 yr just amazing, lee. I just downloaded it. frankly, the missing tcas possibility is the only thing why I preferred the DF737 instead of my PIC767. I can hardly wait to try it tonight when @ home.CheersPhilCome to DAD!http://www.dangerous-airports.com/images/dad_logo.jpgAMD XP 2700+, 512 MB, ASUS A7N8X, GF4 440, 17" TFT
