Getting FMC To See New Airfield

Featured Replies

Good evening all, I installed a new airfield on Antartica, The runway seems to be at least a mile and a half long. My FSNav has been updated, and sees it, My question is, how do I get the FMS to see it? Thanks Jim

Hi Jim,you'll have to edit the airports file, to be found here: FS2002/FMCWP/navdata/wpNavAPT.txt.Open it and add a new airport in the following format:HEATHROW EGLL09R12001094 51.464939 -0.486750109.5009300080First, your airport name, space(s), followed by ICAO code and runway designation, then runway length (in feet) and runway heading (here EGLL, 09R, 12001 ft, HDG 094). Now another space and latitude (Southern coordinates are prefixed with a '-'), here it's N 51:46.4939. Another space and your longitude (West is prefixed with '-'), here it's W 0:48.6750. Now the ILS frequency, ILS heading and airport elevation. In this example it's 109.50, CRS 093, elevation 80 ft. Remember to express the elevation with five digits. If the runway has no ILS, just substitute zeroes for the frequency and course.Hope this helps.Cheers,Gosta. http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

[head][meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0"][meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document"][meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"][title]New Page 1[/title][/head][body]EBAW 51.189333 04.460166[/p][/body]

Hi Lenny,I don't see anything wrong with your entry. Anyway, I found EBAW in my airports file, so you could try that:For wpNavAPT.txt:DEURNE EBAW29 04954296 51.187786 4.473053109.1029600039DEURNE EBAW11 04954116 51.192371 4.452772000.0000000039For airports.dat:EBAW 51.190105 4.462906Hope this works,Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Well, he has his latitude and longitude coordinates reversed.
