Cardiff UK .....

Recommended Posts

Guest Wac

I have a question ...Does Cardiff airport in the UK have an ILS .... ?I fly PSS747, and have found that I can't lock on to the ILS ...I have been told that Cardiff is British Airways 747 maintainance airport, if this is the case wouldn't it have an ILS ... ?Maybe it's just me and I am doing something wrong but I have never been able to tune the Cardiff ILS in, and yet in the arrivals list for Cardiff in the 747 FMC it clearly has two ILS ....This is a puzzle .... :(Any help on this would be welcome ...Regards,Wac :)

Hey Wac,It's most likely that Microsoft didn't put the frequency in database.

This happens at a few airports, where the opposite ends of the runway have the same frequency. Basically, when you're on approach to, say RW27, you pick up the ILS for RW9. Sometimes, re-entering the ILS frequency works, but most of the time you just have to fly the visual approach. If you're using the PSS 747, you can easily check which ILS it's picking up by looking at the ILS identifier on the ND. In the UK, this happens also at Edinburgh and (I think) Aberdeen. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any fixes or workarounds. It would be interesting to find out, if this bug has to do with a specific ILS (well, quite a few of them), or if it's inherent in any, where the same frequency is used for both ends of the RW.Cheers,Gosta.

This problem has cropped before WAC and I am not sure what the cure is but I *think* it is scenery related.I have had no problem in FS2k2 but did have in FS2k and it was cured in FS2k but can't remember how :-( Down load the FS2k2 cardiff scenery by John Walker and see if that helps. 'Cardiff_2k2.zip'.John did have a hanger site here, may still have.Hope this helps
