Can the 767 fly LEMD to SPIM

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I got a question: I did with 767PIC the flight from LEMD (Madrid) to SPIM (Lima, Peru), it was about 12Hrs flight time. But afterwards I was looking at the Atlantic chart and it seems that I may have overextended the ETOPS limits, but I am not sure about that. So can the 767 do that specific flight, taking into account the ETOPS limits (I take 180minutes ETOPS)?Regards,Francois

bonsoir francois,in fact without taking the limit for take off due to lemd altitude it can be donehere s one route done tonight so if you follow strictly the route and weather here s the etops to followyou can use these links for chartinghttp://home.t-online.de/home/Gerd.Puppel/http://www.stegers.ch/comsheet.htmlfeel free to ask other question and happy flight ( a long one) Hey,Thanks a lot for all this information and the links: Now I need to do some reading, get the charts and prepare for the flight. The calculations for the ETP are exactly what I was looking for.I actually flew that route in real life (LEMD-SPIM) last february onboard a A340-600 (en return onboard a A340-300). It's a 12hrs long flight!!Thanks for your help,Francois

Hi,I live in SPIM and have done that flight many times...with Iberia...same..A340 600 or 300.Apparently Air Madrid does the route as well...on a 330 200.As soon as we have PIC2 I will try it with the 767.I used to work for Air Canada who handled Air Mauritus...at that time they bought a 767 and flew it direct Seattle to Port Luis, a record. It then flew to London where I met the flight.... so if you feel like a long run...try Seattle to Port Luis!!Cheers,Paul ( SPIM )

Hi Paul,The flight you mention, is it that famous 16, or 17hrs delivery flight? (I can't remember how long it was, but that was a long flight from what I have read about it a few years ago!!I didn't realise that Air Madrid was doing Madrid to Lima with 330-200.I quite enjoyed my flight between Madrid and Lima and did enjoy a lot my stay in Peru!!Cheers,Francois

Hello Francois,Air Madrid just started service between LEMD and SPIM. It's very cheap from this end, like $650 return. Not sure if it stops en route or flies direct. The 767 flight was that famous flight. If was delivered Seattle to Port Luis then flew to London. I met it then with the Air Mauritus rep, who posed for some photos for the airport newspaper. It has that new smell. In my 15 years I worked at EGLL for AC and AA I was lucky to have seen many great things. A brand new 747 300 for Varig..as well as taking a flight with Malaysian's brand new A330 from Karachi to Delhi. I've seen a 767 that made a heavy nose wheel landing and had a 2cm crack in the airframe! ( PIC claimed windshear ). I was lucky to board a few royal aircraft.. a Thai DC10 with a 4 poster bed and the late King Hussein's personal Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan L1011 that he used to fly in and out to keep up his hours. Many happy memories. Now I live down here in Lima.. a great place to live. Just spent last week up on Titicaca... Flew on LAN's A320 to Juliaca. That's one of the world's highest airports at 3920m. Not far off La Paz's El Alto at 4005mAnyway.. glad you enjoyed Peru.Cheers,Paul

Hi Paul,I guess working in EGLL must be quite fascinating, it's a mad place, so much traffic there!!I went to Peru last February for 3 weeks, flew direct from Madrid to Lima. We had some internal flights too: Arequipa to Cuzco, superb scenery, onboard a F28, flew from Juliaca to Arequipa, that was a long take off roll onboard a 727 (superb view over Titicaca after take off), then flew Arequipa to Lima (still onboard a 727).I stayed in Miraflores while I was in Lima, that was a great trip and I just want to go back to South America and to Peru!Regards,Francois
