Sound Problem...Help Please...

I have to turn my aircraft engine sound completely off or else the controller hears a huge amount of static that makes my transmissions almost inaudible. If I turn the engine sound completely off the controller tells me I'm 5 by 5. I have a splitter set up so my friend and I can hear and one of us has the mic (on the headset) to communicate. I do not use a speaker at all but just the 2 sets of headphones. I wonder how the engine sound is getting through to the controller. I have on board sound and it's a very new board ASUS a8N SLI. Could there be some setting that's allowing the engine sound to leak through.I'd really like to get my engine sounds working with SB3.Thanks,Adam
