Recommended Posts

I wonder if someone can clarify the overflight rules for Cuba. For American carriers flying from KMIA to Central and South America does Cuba allow for overflights or do all carriers fly around the island ?I assume for non-us Carriers flying over Cuba is a non issue.thanks,Mark.

I once saw in the Mag Flying, that US GA aircraft can over fly at or above 16,000feet or somewhere in the range.

I think I have got to the bottom of this one.International Aviation Law forbids any country from preventing an overflight (unless for reasons of national security).Cuba does allow US aircraft to fly over the island (above 16,000 ft). The US was not allowing overflights of Cuban planes heading for Canada (how typical) but now that is allowed.Mark.
