Slow Modem or Cable for Squawkbox?

Recommended Posts

The last time I set up Squawkbox, I had a dialup modem and as per the setup instructions selected the slow modem option. Some time after this setup I changed from a dialup modem to high speed cable for my internet service and if I remember correctly did not change anything realative to Squawkbox (retained the slow modem selection).I Just upgraded some of my computer hardware and reinstalled squawkbox. I notice that there is also a choice for a cable option. I selected the cable option for my current setup. I notice that some of the voices are somewhat muffled. However, some are not so I don't know whether someone was just a little too close to the Mike or if I have a problem. Should I still use the slow modem option even though I have cable, or retain the cable selection? Thanks:RTH

Note this correction:The option in question really is in the Roger Wilco setup, not Squawkbox. Thanks:RTH

If your using RW you must be set at slow modem or you can cause problems in the voice room. And the controllers can tell if your set other then slow modem and will yell at you :) But I suggest dumping RW and go with the new voice software AVC get it here. It works 1000000% betterhttp://web.ics.purdue.edu/~serio/vc/
