I was just browsing around the web for prices on TFT monitors, when I found this link.http://shopping.lycos.co.uk/2078en28HX.htmlI know it's for a game cube, but if stripped it could be used for the MCDU/FMC, or?I just think the price suits me better if I can be done.Anyone tried this? Or know of places (in Europe) where one can get at TCT monitor for

Hi Peter,I don't know what the resolution of the Gamecube monitor is, so can't say if it will work well or not.In general terms a VGA (640 by 480) monitor at minimum is desirable. That's the resolution often seen in actual flight rated equipment. The small LCD monitors on the discount market are often NTSC or PAL encoded units with substantially less physical resolution on the panel. Worse yet, if they do not have RGB inputs, more resolution is lost by the encoding. This is not always true, but is something to watch out for.If you can find a high quality LCD monitor you might find it produces acceptable display resolution for your application even if it is set to take NTSC or PAL. Of course you will have to have a video card with composite TV video out to drive it. Here's a link to a site demonstrating what you might get: http://pookieweb.dyndns.org:61127/lcd.htm Mikewww.mikesflightdeck.com

Yes I saw the TFT from parts express. Looks quite nice and the price is also affordable. The only thing I am a bit worried about is the shipment costs. Since I live in Denmark it will probably be qite expensive to order it from them. But I'll check into that.RegardsPeter

Peter,The game cube monitor would seem worth further research given its availability and price. I don't think I personally would buy one just to see if it would work, but perhaps there is technical information on some of the game oriented sites.Another possibility is to use a monitor designed for a point of sale terminal. Data Module is a possible European source. http://www.data-modul.de/ Mike www.mikesflightdeck.com
