September 6, 200322 yr Hello all,Does anyone have a picture of a Parking brake assembly for a Cessna Prop. Preferably for a 172 or a 182. I am in the process of starting to build a home cockpit (GA), panel and would like to incorporate a parking brake mechanisim. If you don't have a pic but actually have used one and can describe the mechanism, it would help also. Just trying to get an idea of what the setting mechanism is.ThanksSean W.

The handle is under the yoke if I remember correctly, and the handle is like the end of letter L.I myself used a car choke cable & handle on my setup, it has a "T"-handle and I just made a "Z" bend on the wire and routed it through a small piece of wood that has a hole for the wire. So I can pull it out maybe 4-5cm. It will even develop an authentic squeaky noise over time if you dont put any oil in it :-) || -- wall || ,- wire _____,- wood with hole()=-E:-------------| - - |--|_ < z-bend to stop movement || Then I put two blocks of nylon (from bread cutting board) on both sides of the wire and screwed that too to the sim body - this gives some friction since the nylon is holding the wire in between the pieces pretty nicely. Makes a pretty "real" feeling - it really feels like you were pulling a cable.Simulating a "real" brake is pretty hard since you need to hook it to the toe brakes as well. The way to actuate the handbrake in a real plane is as follows:1) Press toebrakes down2) Pull brake handle3) Release brake handle while keeping toebrakes down4) Release toebrakesSo it basically just locks the toe brakes. To release, you press brakes and pull handle, release brakes first then handle. It's pretty hard to simulate but it really isnt that much of a big deal anyway, I rather concentrate on the flying part :-) - besides the clutch cable thingy works great. It feels heavy enough so that you can imagine it actuates something, and does the job.I hope this was of helpTuomas
September 6, 200322 yr Thanks Tuomas. That is exactly what I was looking for. Well, if you ever come out to Oregon, BEER's ARE ON ME!Thanks Again.Sean W.
September 6, 200322 yr HelloMaybe someone have any sketch or good photo for the mechanism of parking brake for big airpnales like 747-777?Lambis
September 6, 200322 yr >Hello>>Maybe someone have any sketch or good photo for the mechanism>of parking brake for big airpnales like 747-777?>>LambisStumbled on this photo of my friends that shows the same kind of brake handle (I think that red thing with "PULL" text is the parking brake) than what my sim has. I think that plane on the pic is a Beech business jet.http://aerodome.net/gallery-kuvat/album39/108_0843.sized.jpgThat kind of a knob is perfectly adequate for me, it serves its purpose fine. For 747, check out the cockpit pics on airliners.net, those are usually helpful. A very inspirational link:http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.sear...eywords=cockpit Clicking "Next Page" for a while should give you plenty of ideas on how to do things - especially if you are after a generic setup that focuses on the use rather than the exact looks.Tuomas
September 7, 200322 yr No, but i have a smaller, 737 ;-)look at http://ramsberg.nu/modules.php?name=copper...e&album=2&pos=7I have posted various interesting pics from the 737NG technical parts locator guide.../ Olle
