QUESTION, ATP VISION, WHAT NEEDED

That is interesting, as it would appear there is no diopter limit either. That is, it doesn't seem to matter how myopic an applicant is so long as the condition can be corrected back to 20/20. As someone who is between - 5 and - 6 diopters myself, I am a little surprised by this. Once you get this short sighted, even with full correction, you notice visual side effects. For example, my extreme peripheral vision (approximately 150 degrees + ) remains uncorrected but otoh my forward vision is better than most people's because it has been fully and precisely corrected. All objects also appear a tiny little bit smaller than they actually are. I don't think I would be comfortable flying an aircraft with my eyesight because of that slight liability in extreme peripheral vision. Even in my car I tend to physically look and turn around far more than other people to compensate for this. Of course with contact lenses you don't have this problem, but then again astigmatism is hard to control with these.
