Going dual with 2k2 on an older system - questions

Hi - I'm probably going to run 2k2 a while longer, and my current system is a Dell Dimension XPST500 which I upgraded to 1.2Ghz; 384 megs of ram; Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32. It's an older system, sure.. but what the heck.Ideally, I'd love to be able to run dual monitors. (Ok, I fibbed. Ideally I'd like a full-motion, high-resolution, completely modular simulator platform and a lifetime tab at a good pizza joint)Anyway, certainly, I realize I need to update my video card. If I can ultimately expect better performance from a single monitor running 2002 fairly maxed, let me know. I'd like nothing (but view) in one monitor, and instruments in another.Without knowing where to start, this seemed like the logical place to ask!Also, as I'm a bit of a dreamer, what is necessary to run five view screens and one instrument screen? Not Ghz, necessarily, but cabling/software-wise. And not necessarily for my current system, but just generally.Thanks,Andrew

Hi Andrew,The easiest way to go would be to network 2-5 PC's and use something like Pete Dowsons WideFS or Flightdeck Software's FDS WideConnection to link them up to FS. As to intruments there's Project Magenta or FreeFD which seem to be the gauges of choice for most builders.Whats good with this is that you can expand as your deck does without having to upgrade hardware just add more clients to your network as you need 'em (some of the bigger projects use 15 clients to drive their decks)Hope this helps.ZK-SHBIf it isn't Boeing, I'm not going.http://www.737simbuilders.com/
