June 17, 200520 yr Is anybody using the INNOVATEK IN007VG 7" LCD Monitor for their CDU/MCDU setup? I am experiencing an unstable video output on mine. My screen is initially very clear and steady, but then gradually becomes jittery to the point of being unviewable as the monitor heats up. I initially thought that temperature was the problem in my simulator so I took out the monitor and ran it in an air conditioned room. Same result. It makes no difference what resolution I set it to. My refresh rate is 60 hz. The monitor will not operate at any other rate. Any suggestions appreciated.Rick SA320 Sim Project
June 17, 200520 yr This sounds suspiciously like either a dry soldered joint or a componant breaking down under heat/load. I had this problem many years ago with a large 21 inch tubed monitor I purchased secondhand. It turned out to be one of the ICs soldered direct to the board. The guy in the shop found it by using freeze spray and freezing each componant in turn until he found the faulty one. Unfortunately for me the cost of repair was to high to obtain, desolder and fit new IC. The monitor was even too big for the garbage can. Since then I always try and insist on a soak test when buying secondhand monitors. You can buy freeze spray from any electrical componant shop such as Maplin etc.Simon Webbaka Porcupinewww.desktopflying.co.ukVery slowely putting together a generic twin desktop unit.
June 17, 200520 yr Simon,I think your theory is probably correct. I thought the same. I am trying to get a warranty exchange from the supplier.http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_you_ne...al/IN-700VG.htmUnfortunately, I had the monitor beyond the 30 day warranty period before I noticed it's problem. A lesson learned - Try it out right away even if you're not going to use it until later.
