Dash 8....Can't get gauges or rotation!

Recommended Posts

I read the docs, and have the latest FSUIP, but after installing the new Dash 8, I can't get gauges to show, and I can't get the Dash 8 to rotate off the tarmac. What's up? What am I missing? Should it be this difficult or is there something simple that I've overlooked. Please help. I'd like to enjoy what all of you who were successful with this plane are enjoying. Stan

I've got the gauges, but I can't fly the thing!! Hopefully we're just missing something easy. It's a great airplane..at least I get to drive around and see the airport a lot! Do you have flaps that work?? I can't get mine to extend. Any suggestions anyone?

Make sure to turn on the power, grens , and avionics switch.. THat should get you guages up..Now how I do it is by playing with the switches until all teh warnings go away.. I was able to drop the flaps and also take off.I just wish this had a nice big manual to go with it

It took me a while to get the guages up and running via the power panel, which is very, very difficult to read. But the problem with rotation is I think due to the ECU control unit on the lower right part of the main panel. I set it to manual and then was able to get plenty of power to get the bird off the ground using the throttles and prop control levers (you'll see both move on the throttle console). It's worth stumblng through, the airplane is magnificent.

You should take a look at the sample flight docs found in the docs subfolder. It gives you an idea on how to power up the aircraft properly. Also you can resize the different panels to be able to read the switch/button labels just by grabbing the edge of the window for the panel and dragging to the size you want.Astar

Thanks for the reponses, everyone. I will resize the panel pieces and see if I can read the switches. Too bad that they don't tell you what they are when the mouse is held over them. That would help without resizing. Stan

I am also having a bit of trouble with climb. I notice that my prop ground warning is still on when I am rolling. I am sure that it is got to do with the feather of the props that is causing loss of climb power. I can't seem to get the CTRL-F1 to work properly.http://members.shaw.ca/dan_cyxc/sigcard.jpg

Try to make the gust lock in takeoff position. Read the manuals, and make sure resolution is in 1280X1024

My Resolution is 1280x1024, I have about 20/10 eye sight, and I still have to squint to make out most of the panel markings.

I am glad I am not the only one having problems with all this. Great sounds with the plane though. Looks like a great airplane once all these little problems are worked and the panel labels are re-done. Does anyone have problems with the sound still going even after exiting the flight?
