OVER SPEED problems

Recommended Posts

Guest

I'am having problems getting the jet aircraft, FS2002, to reach the "Cursing" speed as stated in the "Performance Spec." ie. when I call up the Learjet the info spec's says the gruise speed is 464kts or Mach 0.81. The best I can do is 345 IAS or 0.52 Mach. with out getting an "Overspeed" alarm, and an "Overstress crash" if I let it go on at this speed. I'am not sure it the IAS is in knots or M.P.H. but at this point I would not think this would matter. I have this same thing with any other of the hi speed aircraft. Anyone know of a fix (program or othervise)? Thanks AL

Hi nash2002,Make sure you are at FL300 or higher. That is 30,000ft or around 10,000 meters...I think. Got to get into the thin air. This Hobby Just Keeps Getting Better... :-yellow1Kind RegardsRobert

Or to put it another way, you need to understand the difference between actual airspeed and speed made good over the ground. 30,000 feet is not a threshold; basically, the thinner the air (as you climb) the less airspeed is required to maintain your ground speed. Then there's wind effect and all the rest of it: there's a lot written elsewhere on this if you look (in any pilot's manual, for a start) but the point is, no fix required.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Al: Be sure that you are using Indicated airspeed. You should attempt to fly the big iron at around 300 kts indicated airspeed above 10,000 ft. and then at about 30,000 feet you will see that you are at or about Mach .75, now if you are using autothrottle, click on Mach Hold and keep .75 to your cruising altitude. If you are not using autothrottle, adjust your rate of climb to hold the Mach.75 or so for climb speed. bobg
