Sure. But alias the aircraft directly i.e. don't move the files to a FSFSCONV folder, as the panel gauge is hard coded to the new Dash aircraft folder.So in the aircraft panel folder you want to alias from, your panel.cfg should read:alias=Dash8-Q300_2paneland your sound.cfg should read:alias=Dash8-Q300_2soundMark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Actually, it's not quite as simple as Mark says. You can copy the sound and panel folders directly, and save the trouble of aliasing. You will need to modify the Aircraft.CFG of the new plane, as well as replace the *.air file of the new aircraft with that from the Dash-8_300 folder. I wouldn't suggest modifying the aircraft.cfg, unless you know exactly what you are changing. If you like, I have one of the MS Default Dash 8s set up to run the new panel and sound. Mark, I'm awfully sorry if I came across that way. I was only trying to make it more simple for someone who may not be a veteran Simmer, like you or I. I have found that everything works fine if the folders are copied, and it saves a little trouble.No slander, insult, or belittling was intended. My apologies.

And none was taken, David ... no need to apologise at all. It's probably my English writing style coming across as a little stuffy, sorry. My sense of humour doesn't always come across! No, my point was that I thought I had read elsewhere that the reason many of us had problems loading the 'plane in the first instance - including me - was that we had changed the folder name on installation. The gauge (as you know, there is only one, with all its parts) was looking for the original name. I don't see, if you move the panel elsewhere, how this problem could be avoided. Anyway, what the heck; if you say it does, you've tried it, so fine. Hi GuysI just dropped the panel and sound folder into the Dash 8 300's of Barry Blaisdale and it works great! Did not notice too much of a difference from the original model ! No need to modify the aircraft cfg. file at all, or the .air file! You can also alias it, to save space as Mark has pointed out. Give it a try if you want a little something more exciting to look at from the outside! I am running Win XP and have had no problems at all with the gauge!Regards Wayne

The gauge file is hardcoded to look for the specific folder name of Dash8-Q300_2...As long as you *have* that specific subfolder in the /Aircraft folder, you can alias all you like, or copy to other a/c folders all you want...But, if you delete or rename the Dash8-Q300_2 folder, it *will* crash and burn... :)

Odd, but aliasing never helped my problems. Perhaps the problem was due to the fact that I was trying to use the default DHC 8-100, not Barry Blaisdell's.I was having tourble with the aircraft buffetting every time a change in pitch was made (through elevator input, trim, or autopilot.) Also, I found that my flaps get 'stuck' once I set the lever to the 'Flaps 15' position. These problems were only fixed once I copied the entire panel into the 'converted' aircraft folder, and after I spent far too much time toiling with the aircraft.cfg.
