Dual Sound... Possible?

Recommended Posts

Guest

This is something that I have always wanted to do with FS2002, but not exactly sure if it is possible. I would like to be able to listen and talk to the controllers on VATSIM through my headset, but listen to the sounds of my plane through the speakers. I know all I have is 1 input port, 1 mic port, and 1 output port, however, is there like a splitter I can buy for the output port? Of course then how would RW know which output to go to? I don't think it is possible, but it is worth asking about. Also, if that is not possible, is there a splitter so I can have two mics... one for me and one for my copilot? To do this you need more than one sound device on your system. A USB headset would be one example (I think somebody mentioned that there is such an animal several weeks back). You can then config the sim and RW to use the correct WAV output and input devices. Not sure if your system will support more than one sound card, but that could also be an option.

I have a sound system on my motherboard and an additional PCI sound card. I use the motherboard sound for system sounds (i.e. FS2k2) and use the PCI card strictly for Roger Wilco. To do this, follow these steps:1.) Plug in and install the PCI sound card you have.2.) Configure your system (Control Panel-->Sounds, Speech, Audio Devices) to use your motherbaord sound 'card.')3.) Go into Roger Wilco and run the setup (Adjust-->Configure) and select your PCI sound card when prompted to select your sound device.)This has worked great for me. If you have any questions, come back to this post and I'll try to help fix any additional problems you may occur.Ryan-Flightpro08 :-coolVATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Controller 1 (C-1)SAN TRACON Lead [link:www.taxiwaysigns.com]Taxiwaysigns.com Scenery Designer-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 40.41 Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 11298

Spoke too soon... ran into some problems. First... when I tried to install my Creative Sound Blaster Ensoniq AudioPCI soundcard, I can't find the driver files. I downloaded the most recent files from http://www.americas.creative.com/support/f...Centric=15&OS=4 but I can't get the Add New Hardware setup to find the driver files! I have pointed it to a couple of different places, but no joy. Can you help me out with that one? Also... when I went to the Control Panel and clicked on Sounds... there isn't a Speech tab or button. I am operating 98, does this make a difference? Anyway... hopefully we can figure this out. Lookin forward to using this new sound setup! ;-) Andrew Heath[a href=http://www.duncanfuller.com/d21tracon/]Detroit TRACON[/a]THE RED WINGS RULE!http://www.duncanfuller.com/d21tracon/banner1.jpghttp://www.duncanfuller.com/d21tracon/banner2.jpg

Got a 2nd Computer? Dont need anything special to do this option. Two pc's networked using TCP/IP protocal, then run wideserver/wideclient. Fs2002 works on one pc and Squawkbox, Fsmeteo, RogerWilco, FsFltmax to name but a few run on the second pc. Probably not what you had in mind, but its something to bear in mind for the future. Think of all those programs running on the same pc as Fs2002.. its gonna impact someway or another.Rgdshttp://www.avsim.com/vfr_center/avsim_sig.jpg
