I am from Greece and this is TOTTALY #####. Who wrotes this nonsence? The computer stores are full of games. There is democracy in Greece!!! were not Afghanistan! We Greeks play pc games, we buy pc games THERE IS NO SUCH LAW! The Greek government only try to prohibit internet gambling through internet stores! He wants people gambling only to cazinos. He didnt prohibit pc games!!!!! Computers and internet are NOT considered evil (what a nonsence" -----------------Matt

Curious--amidst all this discussion, has anyone actually been arrested yet? We have lots of obscure laws on the books in the states, which restrict everything from holding hands on Sundays, to kissing in public. Some of them undoubtedly against the Constitution, but still on the books. Not to mention some of the more obscure laws in other European countries, which aren't enforced... I still remember the incident with the plane spotters--that's why I'm curious if arrests have been made...-John

A bit of advice to the Greek Government if I may:1. Some people use computers to gamble, watch pornography or even (God forbid !) play games. The solution is very simple: ban all computers from the country and do not allow access to the internet. 2. Some people use their cars to commit criminal acts. Again, the solution is very simple: from now on, owning and driving a car will be strictly forbiden.3. Some people have used commercial aircraft to commit horrific acts of terrorism. Starting tomorrow, aircraft will be banned in this country. The government will, however, assist the transportation needs of the population. Donkeys will be provided at reduced prices.Sounds pretty Taliban to me...Twister

Hi Scott,"Don't you think they could have fixed all this with the addition of the word "of chance", as in "games of chance", or "for the sole purpose of winning monetary gain"?"They did make a distinction when they categorized the "games", but in the process they made this categorization very ambiguous. This is where the problem lies, not in the intention of the law. I am 100% sure that they did not have in mind to ban simple computer games, but the way the law is worded got us to this mess.I bet this law gets reworded real soon. Till then we can all pretend we are outlaws! :-)"Hey, you have that really cool cockpit, so they just leave you alone!"On the contrary, I guess it makes me the prime suspect! :-)Stamatis

I can still repeat myself, you have to go to your highest court in Greece and/or Europe and fight for your right to train/play with your FS. Such a law cannot be legal, impossible.Gru

Ansy,Thanks for the advice, but I believe the Law will be corrected to reflect its true intentions without me having to go to the highest court. The law was written this August, and August is too hot a month in Greece for the brain to function correctly :-)Stamatis

Talking of obscure laws, did you know that it is legal for an Englishman to kill a Welshman, as long as he does it within the parish boundaries of Hereford and uses a longbow.Totally irrelevant, but there you go.

Stamatis,I thought you all took August off...or is that only July?Round these parts, Congress is pretty much off all the time, and with all the fighting always going on nothing ever gets done when they are in session (with the exception of making the rich richer and the poor poorer). So given the August heat - I'm amazed your guys did anything. Now about that Olympics thingy... ;-)(just kidding)

I'm sure this won't go on for very long. I mean, it must be against some EU law or something...

What a crock! - I would be fit to be tied if the US Gov tried this kind of crap - I guess my European vacation next summer will NOT include Greece...I would have to leave my cell phone behind!

There must be a misunderstanding somewhere. Are you sure there isn't a Greek version of "April Fools Day" or something? If this is genuine, it's a violation of the freedoms law-abiding citizens of the modern world deserve. Perhaps we (the US) should start running some U2 flights over Greece and see what the h*** the Greek government is up to. They must be off their rockers.-twilky
