Another ATC BUG???? Need help, i think...

Hi all, after been cleared for ILS Rwy 16 at LSZH airport suddendly, on short final (3100 ft.), Zurich told me to do a left downwind Rwy 34!!!A bit too late...So i simply ignored ATC instructions and landed my A320 on Rwy 16.Can anyone please explain how could this happen? And what should i do given that i'm not so able handling large jets in restricted area; i thought to create on the fly, using FSNav, a left downwind pattern...What do you think? Please help. Thanks in advanceLuigi ;-)

The wind probably changed, forcing you to make a circling approach to runway 34. If there is a sudden wind change, this can happen in the real world too, providing the weather is above the minima for a circling approach (you have to stay visual with the field). However, I doubt that you would see this happen in Z

Martin is right but in real life they won't ask you to go to the opposite runway to land.. they'll clear you to land since you are already on finals.

Hi friends, what you talked about is exactly what i think: in other words, when on short final approx. 3-4 nm. from the rwy, gear down, etc. how can you tell me i have to land on the opposite rwy? I should have been noticed at least 15' in advance, right?Anyway next time i'll try a missed approach or a FSNav pattern.Thank you both for postingLuigi ;-)

Another not allowed landing, this time at Venice Tessera LIPZ.Cleared to the ILS Rwy 4R, at the outer marker, gear down, i was playing with throttle/flaps when BBBBUUUUUUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!! tower asked me to make a left downwind Rwy 22L. Useless to say i ignored them and perfectly landed on 4R.How can this happen? Two times in two days is too much for me, frustrating after three hours of flight. What do you think? Come on guys, when are you going to release RCv3?Thanks in advance for any inputsLuigi ;-)

I'm not trying to stick up for MS ATC ;-), but in real life , if the tailwind component was suddenly too large (i.e. you wouldn't be legal to land), I suppose you, the PIC, would either have executed a go-around, or accepted to circle (because in that case proceeding with the landing on the first runway wouldn't be an option - unless you're prepared to answer a lot of questions afterwards :-)).BTW, I'm not a real pilots, so this is really just speculation. :-)Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

This happened to me yesterday on the way to Boston. I was cleared to runway 15R ILS, the ATC gave me vectors all the way in. At about 40 miles out, I listened to the ATIS of Boston and it said that runway 33L was in use. I should have known something was up then...but I let the stupid ATC take me into 15R. Well I didn't get clearance to land on 15R but I did anyway....If you ask me its poor designing of the MS ATC. If at 40 miles out you're cleared to land you should be given vectors to the proper runway. :([br][br][div align=center][br][link:members.cox.net/fstimes/wetimage.html]Click Here For Weather Image of the Day!

This happened to me again at KORD. ATC vectors me to 32L...over the outter marker and bam...tower says to land on the other end, 14R....but after I land and began taxiing to the gate, the runway 32L was back in use! Do you think that FSMeteo is causing this problem?? What do you people who use FSMeteo set your "refresh" rate to? I had mine set to 6mins but I am thinking of making that higher to see if that solves the problem.

Well I confirmed it last night. The same thing happened at SLC..twice...I was cleared by ATC for runway 34R at about 65 miles out. After confirming the info with center I tuned the ATIS and checked it...sure enough, FSMeteo downloaded new weather data to the sim, now the runway in use was 16L. Even though all along ATC center is clearing me to RW 34R. But once I get switched over to tower they clear me to land on 16L. I declared a miss and got new vectors to the RW 16L approach. During the 10 mins or so that it took to get lined up for RW 16L, FSMeteo downloaded a new set of data to the sim, changing the runway back to 34R. By then I had, had it...I gave up.What's the solution here? What's the problem? Should I just set FSMeteo to update like every 30mins...or maybe just pause the sim, force FSMeteo to download an updated weather, and then quit FSMeteo at 100 miles before the airport? Is there a way to stop FSMeteo from downloading once your within XX miles of your destination airport?Frustrated! :(
