Sun Country Texture for Mike's B727

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi Simmers,Well to start your weekend - I have created a livery of the Sun Country B727 aircraft, in response to a request from "Kirby"http://www.gjsmith.com/images/B727-Sun-1.jpgThis artwork was created from an image available to me (and the entire WWW) from airliners.net. I have created the artwork and texture from a white BMP format through graphic efforts and tools available to me. The similarity to the real Sun Country is intended as I tried to represent as close as possible the real world aircraft that Sun Country fly. The saga that is going on about copyright for aircraft liveries is creating a lot of friction for many people. Let me say this - I have three excellent oil paintings, hanging in my study, done by a famous (in Australia at least) military and civil aircraft painter - each of them represent particular liveries - WWII, Korea, and a Civilian airliner. He put quite a bit of effort into each artwork and I paid a large sum for each of these works of art - but for the life of me I did not enquire if he had sort permission to make money from his paintings of these liveries - because undoubtedly he was copying someone else's real world work and I know for a fact that he was working from pictures of the aircraft concerned for each painting. Maybe what he does for art and a living and what I do in creating free artwork of real world aircraft is wrong in the eyes of some people, maybe even many - however, my intention is to add realism and fun to a flight sim environment that is based on the real world of flying and what would that be if we could not have real world liveries.By the way virtually all of the aircraft liveries that I have created that represent real world liveries have been created in response to request from you simmers out there - many I do not even use myself. Therefore maybe I should propose that all texture request must be accompanied with a letter of consent from the Airline in question. Can we either let this matter rest - or make a clear directive for all painters - either YES or NO for real world liveries and lets be done with it. Just make a decision and let me know the boundaries that are acceptable.Sorry for the big post. She is available at:http://www.gjsmith.com/textures/B727.htm Garry J. Beautiful Plane Gary!!!You are definately due for an award!!!I live in Minneapolis which is Sun Country's home base, and have flown their beautiful 727's more than once. Unfortunately, lately they have fallen on hard times and are cutting back (sound familiar?)Their plans are for fewer flights and they will only be operating the 3 or 4 new 737-800s they have. But you can still catch the 727's making a few flights ever yweek, and it makes it that much more special to see one. Thanks for your great work on this and everything else!Vonat

Thanks Vonat,Glad she brings good memories and thoughts to you - shame that the airline is in difficulties it must be hard for them to watch something they built up from scratch struggle to survive. They have my sympathy.All/any awards welcome :-jumpy for this or any other of my 250 plus textures available at:http://www.gjsmith.com/textures/by-type.htmHappy simming Garry J. Hi Garry,Don't you worry about painting real airlines logos. As far as I'm concerned this is a typical example of throwing some crap in a turbojet's intake and opening full throttle ! Never mind those sorry and self righteous individuals who have nothing better to do than annoying the simmers' community.A little question if you don't mind:I've tried to install your 727 Lufthansa livery (I already installed the amazing American Airlines 727) but the livery doesn't show up at all.I copied and pasted the same text I always do in the aircraft CFG to no avail.(worked for the AA 727 tough)Is there a limitation to the number of liveries one can attach to a specific aircraft ?Take carreTwister

That is Brillient Gary !! :)I can see how much work that must have been and the hours it must took :)I do not know the Airline but I must have that one for my collection as it is looks like a Aircraft I want to go somewhere in ,maby to Nevada ? :)I read your R E A L long Post and you are very smart ,I am wondering if i can paint the Market street scene in my village I wanted to do today or do I need to buy all the houses first ? and do I have to leave the shop names off the painting or shall i get permission off them all first ? maby it does not matter I just paint it anyway and somebody can take my name off the painting and put there instead and I shall be sure to leave a space for them to do this :)Life can be SO confusing lolAnniette xxxxxxxxxxxx

Great job Garry. I am really enjoying the Suncountry 727. I have waited many years to have a suncountry paint on an FS plane. Because of your excellent work, I have one!! I strongly urge everyone who is looking for a paint of any aircraft, as Garry has several different models, from the 707 to the Airbus's, to just ask him. He is a true ARTIST when it comes to this stuff. Here is the link to the 727 page: http://www.gjsmith.com/Textures/b727.htm Thanks again Garry!!!!!!Kirby

Thank you all for your kind words - makes this hobby fun.It looks like my WEB server has had a dummy spit and is offline so I guess you cannot see the images or get my aircraft at the moment - I know they are working on bringing it back on line as fast as they can.For Twister, I have 18 B727's already in my config file so I have not yet hit a limit for this aircraft - did you copy all of the textures from a previous texture.# before installing my textures - I only publish the ones that I change. For my friend Anniette - thanks mate - this girl was fun to create - I like to tinker with the liveries that are just that bit different from the norm. I have chosen to treat the entire issue in relation to liveries as a hobby and will continue to paint aircraft until someone presents me with a formal notice from an appropriate authority to cease on that livery. And then I will only cease on that livery. For Bill - your welcome - hope she flies well for youAnd for Kirby - glad I got her right for you and that you have a great weekend flying her around.Happy simming to you all - hopefully my server will be up again shortly.Regards Garry J.
