PA A320 vs PSS A320 ...comparative question

Im a major fan of both of these airbeese. However, having flown them both quite a lot, (using PSS panel for both.) Can anyone advisewhy the PA A320 has 4 fuel tanks, but the PSS A320 has 3? Same airplane theoretically (comparing CFM engined versions at least.)Seems one of these would be incorrectly modelled? I discovered this when using the fuel calculation tools from PSS.Eric

Couldn't find info on the fueltank layout on airbus.com so I can't answer that.As to looks, neither is perfect but both are pretty good indeed.I like the PSS one better myself though, looks a bit more realistic (but that's small things only).Can't comment on the FDE, but I think it's pretty much the same there.Remember that this IS a simulation designed to run on your home computer and not some Silicon Graphics workstation with a Cray YMP in the background for the calculations.That means that compromises need to be made in order to keep it workable. Microsoft made some in the basic sim (which affect everything) and all aircraft designers have to make some more. I'm pretty certain both teams tried to do the best possible under the limitations they had, and came up with something pretty close to the real thing. If they are different, and the imperfections are in different areas, then that's because they had different priorities.

In other words there either is only 1 centertank or it doesn't matter for operations because they are linked in such a way that the flightcrew doesn't have to care about it.

Hello Eric,The A320 has two tanks per wing, don't know why.The A321 has one fueltank per wing to save weight.I am not sure about the newer A319 and A318, but it wouldsort of make sense if they too only have one tank per wing.A little late, but hopefully useful all the same.-Niels Christiansen
