Regarding Ariane

Recommended Posts

Speaking as a person that was going to purchase Ariane's 737-BBJ I was glad to see the news regarding its owner Peter Tishma. I find it hard to belive but because our community is so large there are always going to be individuals that are going to take advantage of us to satisfy their greed.I tried researching the topic a little further to see exactly why AVSIM was warning us about this individual abd I came across this.[The following is from the Editors column for "TheMag FS News"] There now follows a statement which is part of an out of court settlement between: Michael Clark & Peter Tishma and Papa Tango Limited APOLOGYAs many of you will know, I am Editor of "TheMag FS News", a weekly magazine for the flight simulation community which can be found at http://www.themag-fs-news.com .I have in the past on a number of occasions been extremely critical of Papa Tango Limited and its CEO, Peter Tishma, both in postings on AVSIM and in Editorials in TheMag. I was particularly concerned that what I felt were important issues surrounding the freeware use of airline insignia should be debated. I now accept that a number of the specific allegations I made about them were inaccurate and that I should not have published them. In addition, I alleged wrongly that Papa Tango and Peter Tishma had sought generally to obtain a dishonest and unfair advantage over their competitors in the flight simulation software business and that Papa Tango had sought to "rip-off" its customers. I also suggested wrongly that these alleged wrongdoings were being and/ or will be investigated by the Office of Fair Trading.I acknowledge readily that Papa Tango and Peter Tishma have made an important contribution to the flight simulation community and have consistently produced products of high quality. I should not have suggested that they practise dishonest business tactics. I appreciate that my allegations have had a serious adverse effect on Papa Tango's and Peter Tishma's reputations. I regret this and wish to apologise to them.[END]I do not know if this is what started the situation Mr. Peter Tishmahas gotten himself into or an attempt by him to recover his reputation.I belive though that you at AVSIM would have researched your position regarding this individual. So then can you please explain what has happened to simmers in the past that have purchased from Pappa Tango or Ariane? Shaun GroverCYQR

I guess the fact that he tried to kill freeware is reason enough to not support his future endevors. Who knows what $$$ making scheme he might come up with next.

Hi:I am hoping that someone brought this to the attention of the British Bankrupcy Court that he is engaging is this business. I think that this will have a great impact on Mr. Tishman's business. Charles

Hmmmm...the web address mentioned in this supposed apology appears to be a generic advertising shell and not any sort of FS magazine...was there ever really such a magazine, or could this be a "planted" fake apology? One of those things that makes you go "hmmmmmmm."Bob

Just to put the record straight. The Mag FSNews was an e-mail weekly newsletter that has evolved into TechPilot.com. Mike Clarke, editor of The Mag, was persuaded by his lawyers, incorrectly as it transpires, to apologise to Peter Tishma and avoid a court case. In fact, all Mike's statements about Tishma and Papa Tango were correct and Tishma's subsequent bankruptcies bear this out. We at PC Pilot Magazine (the UK-based flight simulation magazine) took on Tishma following a number of complaints from readers who had bought his World Air Simulations rubbish. This was old FS2000 software labelled as 'Optimised for FS2002'. Volumes of e-mail flew around but we refused to take any notice of his amateurish legal threats. The lawyers he repeatedly copied in to his e-mails weren't actually acting for him, as we suspected (we pressed them for a statement on the matter). Tishma found to his dismay that his usual tactic of cobbling together a threatening letter full of cod-legalese terms had no effect. Eventually he went away, his products were removed from the shelves of Game (you know them as Electronics Boutique in the US) and World Air Simulations followed Papa Tango into bankruptcy. The moral is to ignore any legal letters he sends, as they are childish rubbish, and that cc'ing someone in to a mail or letter doesn't necessarily mean that they are formally involved in the matter! As to his software - if it works OK it means he is ripping off the developers and if it doesn't work OK it will be you he's ripping off, as 'product' and 'support' are two words that are guarranteed to leave him laughing all the way to the bank. This thread is labeled "Regarding Ariane" so being a very satisfied Ariane customer, I want to address it.I have purchased four of Ariane's 737 products. After having problems loading the first one that I purchased quite a while ago, I shelfed it and went on using my other pay-ware sims (all very good). Then I decided to try and get my Ariane 737-600 ng Boeing working so I contacted the Ariane support email. They answered my email promptly and were very helpful and were persistent with their support until they got the sim working great on my computer.I have not ever received support of that caliber from any other developer and I do not own a pay-ware simulation (and, believe me, I have a lot of them) that works so well and seamlessly with TrackIR as Ariane's VCe cockpit. If someone has spent $200 on TrackIR and loves flying "heavies", they will most certainly want to own one of Arian's unique simulations with the VCe cockpit. Their software is well supported and quite worth the money.

I am sorry to say, throughout almost 22 years of flight simulator experience, I was never more disappointed or frustrated or feeling down the way I did after I bought the B737-700 product from Ariane and….. NO, it was not my fault, they had no customer support, problems at the product, no forum, very rough single and only one email I received , I had to uninstall it totally and even deleted it from my backup system. This kind of altitude I have never experienced with any other company that I bought anything from ever, I guess that makes Ariane a unique case and unforgettable one to me.Maybe that was irrelevant; however, I thought I would share it with you guys.
