How is the brightness/contrast with the EDimensional gl

What's the best resolution that is practical with these shutter glasses, on a high end Ti4600 card? How is the brightness/contrast? I tried them a year ago with a Radeon 64 but they did not look good. I found the image interlaced in appearance, and much dimmer. I was running them at 1024 x 768 x 32 with refresh of 120 if I recall.Noel

Howdy Noel,I have just upgraded to a G4 128 Ti4600 from a G2 64 Pro. with the G2 I couldn't use the nVidia drivers, had to use the Wicked 3dbeta 5.02. Since upgrading to the G4Ti4600 I have to use the nVidia Stero Drivers. These look a lot better and I don't have to use as much gamma as I had to with the G2. It seems to be brighter to me. There are other problems, sometime I have trouble getting the glasses to show 3D at all. I have found a workaround for this, I have to change my resolution to one higher than it was when I started the game. Iam able to run a resolution of 1280x960x32 at a rate of 85hz. That is the best I have been able to do. My monitor,(a HP v90 19"),will only go to 85hz, thats the end. However I don't get excessive flickering most of the time, once in a while I will get a quick flash or two but most of the time it does pretty well. There are some problems for instance the nVidia drivers cause more artifacts a doubling of certain items, for instance the VASI lights are doubled, Control Towers are doubled if I use 100% stero seperation. Not completely trouble free, however, I find it to be worth the time and trouble, the WOW factor of having the illusion of altitude, makes it worthwhile to me. The Wicked 3D beta 5.02 drivers I used to have to use, were more reliable, but did not put up as good an image as the nVidia drivers do. Having said all of that I don't do every flight in Stero, but when I don't use stero, it is akin to the Spearmint losing its flavor after a night on the bedpost. :D (Europeans, Spearmint is a reference to chewing gum stateside).

Thanks, that's helpful. I am basically on the fence between GF4 Ti4600 and Radeon 9700 Pro, which apparently is beginning to show some def promise in FS. I have been very pleased with this Radeon 64 DDR for over 2 years and the 9700 Pro certainly is coming around to be excellent. From your descriptions, I think I am inclined to forget stereo for now, mainly for this reason: I am a FANATIC about fine resolution, image quality and lack of artifacts, etc. Believe it or not, I am actually able to run FS2k2 on this 2.5 y/o video card at 1880 x 1440 x 32. I pay about a 20% perf hit for this over 1600 x, so I am hopeful upgrading my CPU from P3 1GHz, to P4 3GHz+, plus the 9700 Pro should allow me to run FS at 1880 x 1440 x 32 without much problems. It really does look sweet at that res! I am fortunate to have a Sony GDM F400 (that Sony is attempting to steal back from me in a warranty dispute) that sports .22 grille pitch and is the finest looking display around. Running FS at this res on this screen is truly clean. Anti Aliasing is not required at this level!!I can't wait to see what the Radeon 9700 with Aniso Filt will do at this res!!Noel

Turn off Transform & Lighting {T&L}. This makes those floating 3d objects appear normally on my system.Have A Good Day !!!! Rex
