After spending half a day trying to find why FS2002was locking up, I found my CPU was running hot.70 deg idle, so FS would have been taking it intothe 90's.Sure enough, I had been slack with the house cleaningand the CPU Fan was choc full of dust.

Yikes :-eek Don't believe I've ever heard of somebody's CPU running so hot. Glad you found the problem, or your CPU could have been fried. :-)Ryan-Flightpro08 :-coolVATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Controller 1 (C-1)SAN TRACON Lead [link:www.taxiwaysigns.com]Taxiwaysigns.com Scenery Designer-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 29.42 WHQL Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition SP1*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 11298

damn, you're lucky it didn't melt. I've got mine in one of those desk cubbies so I just removed one of the case panels and it's lessened the heat problems.

I'm surprised your mobo didn't cut the power before you hit 70C. You must have an older board. The newer ones protect against overheat. It's amazing your system still boots.Y'all should protect that investment. For $30-$40 you can score yourself some arctic silver and a decent heatsink/fan combo. Cheap insurance policy IMO. There's no reason you should be running above 50C with a P3/P4 or 60C on an AMD.J
