How to land an boeing aircraft

I don't know why I always can't stop or slow down the boeing 747-400CAn some give me some hot-keys in order to slow down the aircraft?

I start to slow down like this.....Fly straight and level. If you don't add any power the aircraft will slow.Deploy the flaps. More lift = more drag = less speed.Kick out the wheels. This will add even more drag to help you slow. Eric Ernst of PIC fame once told me that's how they slowed the Saab 340 when he flew them.Arm the auto spoilers and auto brakes. The moment there is weight on the wheels, these items will engage.Beware though, of applying spoilers while in flight and low on approach. Yes, they do slow you down, but they also dramatically increase your rate of descent.Use reverse thrust.And lastly, make s-turns if you think you'll run out of runway. This simply increases your runway length by taking the "long way" (ie not a straight line).If all else fails, go around.....

Also make sure that the autothrottle is disengaged. I have not flown the 747 but on some other default planes turning off the autopilot does not turn off the autothrottle. R-

But How to turn off the autothrottle though?

I click it off... the A/t switch... once the aircraft is settled nicely on the glideslope and a mile or so from landing.There is probably a hot key for this but I don't know what it is.:-)Pete

The hot key for arming/disarming the Auto-throttle is " Shift + R ". It is a good idea to disarm this when on short final, so when you are over the threshold, i bring the throttles back to idle, and when the main gear touches, i go immediately to reverse thrust.Hoope this helps.Air_tink

Did you have to start with a 747???? Play with a 737 before you try to brake a 747 man, and don't try to land a loaded 747 before you play a lot with it, any runway will look short!
