FSMeteo, VATSIM, and Squawkbox

Recommended Posts

Guest

Could someone please tell me the correct settings I need to set in FSMeteo and Squawkbox so that FSMeteo uses VATSIM's weather and Squawkbox does not load the weather? Is it possible to turn off Squawkbox's weather update? It seems to be interfering with FSMeteo. Any help configuring these two programs to work together would be appreciated. TIA.Nathan

I think you're inferring you want to use FSMETEO's weather updates. That's what I do anyway. All you have to do is turn off Squawkbox's weather updates. To do this, right click the Squawkbox box, click options, and then check "Ignore Real World Weather." Now you'll be using FSMETEO weather, and Squawkbox will work as normal without getting weather from the VATSIM network.Ryan-Flightpro08 :-coolVATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Controller 1 (C-1)SAN TRACON Lead [link:www.taxiwaysigns.com]Taxiwaysigns.com Scenery Designer-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 29.42 WHQL Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition SP1*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 11298

Flightpro08 was not quite there with his answer Nathan. His answer would allow you to use FSMeteo weather with SB, but you say you want to use VATSIM weather with FSMeteo.Do what flightpro08 says and then open FSMeteo 'preferences' and click 'Use VATSIM weather'. This will make FSMeteo get its data from the VATSIM servers rather than its own servers.HTH

Why bother using FSMeteo at all, if VATSIM is providing the same data that it does automatically (and periodically) to the in-game real weather engine?edit: sp

Yeah, I had heard that FSMeteo makes it a more realistic experience and is better at setting the weather in FS2002. Thanks for your help guys.Nathan
