Well, personally, I'd recommend holding off until this winter. AMD will be releasing "Hammer", their new generation of CPUs, and nVidia will be releasing their new nForce2 chipset as well as their new GPU (video card), the NV30. But, if you're in the market now...Diffenitly go with a 2.0Ghz AMD Athlon. Not sure which XP model you're referring to, but any AMD CPU running at 2.0GHz is much faster than a P4 running at 1.8 GHz. I'd recommend sticking with 512MB of RAM, as Windows XP doesn't need any more than that (unless of course you plan on running like 15 IE windows, Photoshop 7.0, and FS2k2 all at the same time ;-) ) As for a video card, I recommend the GeForce 4 128MB Ti4600. Though, if you're an overclocker, then you might want to consider the GeForce 4 Ti4200 or Ti4400, as both, with additional cooling, can generally overclock to the Ti4600 speeds. The system looks pretty good. FWIW I just built the following system:Athlon XP 2000+ CPU (runs at 1.67 ghz, but out performs a 2.0 ghz P4) (~$100), Gigabyte 7VRXP motherboard (~$90), 512 mb PC2100 DDR RAM (~$125) and Gainward GF4 TI4200 128mb (~$175). Nice system for a resonable budget. All running on XP with no problems. All purchased from www.newegg.com (highly recommended)3) No, the Geforce4 Ti4200 128mb is not automatically better than a Geforce4 Ti4200 64mb. The 64mb models use faster ram which usually results in higher benchmarks. I had a 64mb Geforce4 Ti4200 which benchmarket with the default clock settings around 10,300 on 3dMark 2001 SE. That card turned out to be defective and I decided to go for the 128 mb version with TV/Svideo/Composite in/out. This new card uses 4ns RAM as opposed to the 64mb version's 3.2ns RAM. The new card benchmarks at 10,100 on my system...a reduction of 200 points. Not really noticable in the games, but it's there none the less. The 128mb version will be faster on resolutions over 1280x1024 or so and will obviously hold more info in memory which should give more headroom for new games with larger texutres I'd assume.

What is the big difference form TI4200 to TI4600 ?Thanks,Ulisses

Ti4600 has faster memory and GPU clock speeds, more circuitry and such to support those faster clock speeds. I think the GPU architecture is the same but I could be wrong. Basically compared to the Ti4600, the Ti4200 is 95% of the performance for 50% of the price.
