Disable system restore????That has to be the worst advice ever!! Not questioning your comments as you are only the messenger and thanks for taking the time to follow this post through.System restore has saved my bacon twice now and in the process saved me countless hours of reinstalling.Bad, very bad advice.

Yes, I hear you- I should have thought of adding that disclaimer in my post, I'll see if it's still able to be edited. I do agree with you, and some of that stuff is bad if you don't know what you're doing.Bruce.

Some of the steps in the article above that I posted make significant changes in your XP configuration. Don't change anything if you're not 100% sure of a successful outcome.Thanks,Bruce.

Hi,My brothers computer had the same problem and I solved it by replacing the VIA drivers with a more recent version.Hope it helps for you too.hm
