How do I fly SIDs & STARS manually ???

Can someone please explain to me how I fly SIDs & STARS manually without the use of a FMC, or give me an url to any tutorials or something. Thanks :-)

The same way real pilots who don't fly planes with FMC's do. Get a copy of the the DP/STAR in either textual or graphical format and fly to the navaids/intersections as detailed. Be sure to take note of any speed and altitude restrictions at each point.There are several places to get DP (BTW, SIDs are now refered to as Departure Procedures) and STAR charts. One place I remember off the top of my head is www.clearanceunlimited.com

well,in europe you won't find much RW pilots handflying a SID,but often initially with the FD on,which is much more common:you don't wanna hand-fly a SID with e.g. an A320

Concorde is flown out of LHR 'by hand' on the SID. The FD is quite sloppy on Concorde, and even though in "the book" it states it must be used (while flying the aircraft), many pilots choose not to (on dep and app). The FD is engaged on the climb out, it depends on the conditions, so anywhere around 2-5000ft. Autothrottles are engaged passing 7000ft and then AP/INS systems will take over further along the SID, or indeed en-route to the acceleration point - again, depends on PF and conditions on the flight. The main reason for this is due to the noise abatement restrictions the aircraft has to follow out of London. Well I guess it depends on the equipment. Consider....no RNAV just old-school IFR. It takes work to identify an intersection if your hand tuning nav radios and OBS
