hey guys. take a look at these. just went over to the gateway site which is the company i bought my comp from, say back in 96 or 97. anyway. didnt know all my specs so i tried theyre tool out and check this outProcessorIntel Pentium II, 400 MHz100MHz external bus Memory 128MB physical 69% free resources3 memory slots, 2 free (128+0+0) Video Graphics Adapter: NVIDIA RIVA TNT (Gateway)Screen Area/Colors: 1024x768 pixels, 16 CD and DVD DrivesLG CD-ROM CRD-8400B (5/11/1998)i know its not as bad as others but talk about yuck!. i always thought this thing had alittle more power in it. well. i did get it when the comps needed to be upgraded about every two months so im not too shocked. never done an upgrade on this thing.all the info that utility showed on every line except a few it suggested an upgrade..loldidnt get to chat with theyre upgrade specialists but was wondering if id be able to buy a pentium 4 chip and just replace it with the pII chip. or would it burn out the system?i do want to upgrade but i dont want to end up buying a whone new cpu which would probably cost more then the upgrades

Hi,Some computer shops sell powerbox upgrades. For example, my local shop sells the PC with the case, power supply, CPU (of your choice), RAM, and motherboard for a reasonable rate. All you have to do is pull your drives, souncards, video, etc out of the old, and drop it in the new. An AMD Athalon 1.8G with 128 SDRAM was about $385 CDN.Definitely one route to consider.CF-AOA

OOOOR, you can look on eBay and try to get real lucky like I did to find my system for 500 bucks about 6 months ago. (With the exception of the mobo, just had to replace that)
